Goleta Things to Do

Lake Los Carneros should probably be considered off the beaten path (a common thing for Goleta) but since I visit is so frequently I am classifying it as a thing to see. The lake is part of a large open space that has various trails crisscrossing the space. The lake is home to a large variety of birds, has shady groves of trees, mountain views and the changing light as the day progresses makes the landscape ever changing.

Since I visit frequently I have a travel log for some of the pictures I take at the park.

Santa Barbara recently updated its airport terminal to approximately three-four times the size of its predecessor, while unfortunately note with the outstanding architecture of the previous terminal. Albeit the city has save the core of the predecessor to create a museum inside of it. The new terminal does offer more capabilities for the travelers now.

Goleta in general is off the beaten path, but San Antonio Creek hiking trail at the backside of the small Tuckers Grove Park is one of the many places when you can get away without going anywhere, or dealing with strenuous hikes. San Antonio creek forms a nice canyon, and while housing springs up on both sides when hiking along the trail you can feel isolated from the sub-urban world that surrounds you.

The trail isn’t long and isn’t steep (with the exception of a few short places, like where there is a flood dam), but it offers a good hike through some central coast canyon flora. There are probably better hikes in the area with more spectacular scenery, but in Goleta most of those run along the beach so this hike towards the hills isn’t a bad introduction.
