Hayward Things to Do

  • by RonanOBrien Written Jul 28, 2003

Hayward itself doesn't that many intresting things except all it's parks, in San Francisco you'll find a lot more things to do, which is one of the reasons people around the world like to visit it. Nearby Hayward is Union City. In Niles, which is part of Union City, you can take a magnificent train ride. In it you can walk around, so that you can sit inside and be nice and warm, or you can go out to the front where there are no walls and feel the breeze. Either way, you'll be able to see the extremely great views.

This is a great place to meet for drinks or dinner, or maybe both! The atmosphere is hip and modern and the food is great. Also, check out the list of Specialty drinks--most of which run $8 a drink, but watch out they might be stronger than expected.

Favorite Dish: Goat Cheese Salad ($13) and the Pan Seared Salmon ($14)

    Other favorites:
    Roasted Seabass ($22)

Having lived in Japan for almost 10 years now, more importantly having lived in Niigata, Japan for 10 years (home of the best suishi and sake in the world), I've come to know suishi pretty well.

And Ichiban in Hayward must be given credit for its excellent suishi. I've brought a number of my Japanese students (all Niigata natives) to Ichiban in Hayward and everyone agrees, Ichiban is number one. The suishi master we spoke with has been living in the states for 20 years now.

Suishi chef... suishi master... makes more suishi... even faster.

Favorite Dish: Try the Unagi (Eel) suishi. It's delicious!
