This was a very nice surprise! I'm a little skeptical about taking the time to stop by places that perhaps don't look all too successful thinking the wine isn't making them any money. But I guess you just never know. The wine here was pretty good. The Zinfandel vines on the premises were thick and gnarly. They are not watered to stress the plants out and that forces the plants to produce grapes that are better for making wine (don't ask me about the chemistry on how this works). Anyway, the couple that owns and runs the winery are both chefs and know how wine should taste with food. Very personable and friendly. We had a sip of one of the Zins and it tasted very good. Then, we were given a meatball with a slightly tangy and sweet sauce to eat. Had another sip of the very same wine and Wow! the wine tasted extremely different. It was just phenomenal! We bought a bottle to take home and know we can always get more from their website.
