In the Sprawling Hearst Castle State Monument, there are only two snack areas and are both located inside the huge Visitors Area and they are the Snack Bar and the Espresso bar areas. The Espresso Bar area is located just inside after the entrance to the visitors center and offers a variety of Java (coffee to you people) both hot and cold and a small variety of bread nibblers like fresh danish pastries or croissants and good ole bagels and biscuits and other snack items. Sit and leisurely enjoy a frothy cappuccino or a rich espresso and nibble on a fresh pastry. Indulge in ice cream treats, gourmet chocolates, or other sweets. Hot tea and hot chocolate are also available.
opens: 9:00 am to 5:00 pm daily.
Favorite Dish: a small cup of regular Coffee is $ 4 and a large cup of Iced Latte's at $ 6 and small cups of hot chocolate will cost $ 4.50. the assorted breads like Croissants or Bagels start at $ 7 to $ 10.

Although the Hearst Castle State Park only has two snack bars in it's property, it is still part of San Simeon so technically, this restaurant tip is valid at the Hearst Castle Pages.
they serve continental breakfast for the hotel guests here at Days Inn Hotel in San Simeon, a tip, you can eat for free here even if you are not a check in guest since they don't check out your room number, heck there is no one to check you out when you enter the breakfast nook so for all wiseguys there who want a free breakfast, you can go to the Breakfast Nook of the Days Inn San Simeon! They offer typical continental foods like waffles, pancakes and some bagels and other pastries and some hot coffee and orange juices from the dispensers. The breakfast nook is open from 6:00 am to 10:00 everyday and is located just beside the Front Desk.
Favorite Dish: the typical continental meal of eggs, pancakes and biscuits.

Big Sur Cafe is one of the popular cafe cum diner joint in the Hamlet of San Simeon. Hey, San Simeon, being just a small hamlet, has only 10 restaurants and diners and according to Trip Advisor (Sister company of Virtual Tourist), this is the number 1 resto of the 10 in San Simeon. The Big Sur Cafe also has it's Leo's Southern Style Barbecue Ribs and Chicken among it's specialties and has the typical menus like assorted sandwiches both hot and cold plus deep fried items like fish and chips and good ole hamburger and fries plus other entrees like new york steak and clam chowders.
Favorite Dish: the southern style pork spare ribs and the sirloin steak tips sandwich, which costs $ 14.99 and 15.99 respectively and they have a special 10% discount coupon given to diners as a promotion.
