Dim lighting, oversized booths and lots of wood create the ambiance at Brix. I've been there twice; once just to enjoy a really nice bottle of wine with my boyfriend and once for dinner with my friend. They have a really extensive wine selection - which is awesome if you love to try new boutique wines or old standbys. The menu is pretty solid as well , with hearty food with classic flavors. When I went with my friend, we ordered a meat risotto (I think it was pork), which was really delicious, and we also enjoyed a steak. We both also ordered a cup of tomato lavender soup, which sounds like an odd pairing but it was really delicious. The lavender really dressed up the tomato soup, which was also served with a tasty little crouton / piece of toast. A bonus: It's one of the few places in Hermosa where parking ISN'T a problem! You just park in the 24 hour fitness building, right on the corner of PCH and 16th.
I think this place is best for wine, but the risotto was pretty good. Theme: LocalPrice: US$41 and up » Currency ConverterComparison: more expensive than averageAddress: 1601 Pacific Coast Hwy #175, Hermosa Beach, CAPhone: 310.698.0740Directions: 16th and P.C.H.Website: http://www.brix1601.com/

Buona vita is a cute Italian restaurant in Hermosa Beach. Located along the main street, Pier Avenue, its a very small place that is well-known for its zero corkage fee. That means you may bring your own wine to have with dinner for no price at all. This is a very popular place for locals in the beach cities; on weekends the wait can be quite long, considering they do not take reservations. You simply write your name on a dry erase board outside and the server crosses out names as tables free up. There's a tiny bar inside with about 6 stools where you can wait for a table to free up, but those seats generally have a wait as well. People can be seen drinking wine right outside the restaurant with plastic cups as they are waiting for a table! The later it gets, the longer the wait. We went around 8:30 and probably waited about half an hour; the wait increased dramatically after we were seated around 9 PM.
I had the pasta with salmon and a light cream sauce. It was good! Also the bread was quite tasty. People come here for the ambience and the free corkage more than the food. We also had the tiramisu and that was great as well. The portions are large.. enjoy! Club Sushi is located right by the bustling Hermosa Beach pier, the nightlife hub of Hermosa Beach. This is a full-service restaurant and bar on the corner just across from where the walk street begins. They serve a variety of Japanese fare, from cooked foods to special sushi rolls. I went there on a Thursday night for dinner, and ordered a variety of sushi rolls. Their signature rolls are large and very filling. They are moderately priced- so/so for the quality and the amount of food that you receive. Among the rolls I ordered was the chef's special roll; I imagine this changes either weekly or monthly depending on what is in season. It was a baked roll with crab, salmon and it had a sweet sauce. It was great! Also, you can never go wrong with a rainbow roll and fresh tuna sashimi. The tuna was a little more expensive than I thought it would be, but certainly worth it! There's a full bar as well, with an interesting-looking cocktail menu. The ambiance is sort of a sushi restaurant meets sports bar... does that make sense? The interior has a lot of black, there are several TVs, as well as a sushi bar and regular bar, with a few high tables and booths mixed throughout. I wouldn't classify this is a "date" restaurant, but instead a good place to go grab food and drinks with friends.
It's fun to be adventurous! Try the chef's special, and if you save room, order a mochi ice cream afterward as a dessert. It's just the right amount of dessert to hold you over. Filed Under Food or Sports-Spectating Well, this is a very particular tip if you are a fan of Boston Red Sox baseball or if you are from Boston and want to connect with your Boston-ness while being in the Los Angeles area to enjoy the usually better weather and good times. What the f--- is FFFF? Funny name for a bar but this is not your typical local one. OK, food is not what to mention so much here-rather the atmosphere. FFFF is one of two bars that are specialty Boston Red Sox bars , just at Hermosa alone! If you are in the LA area but miss Boston, come here especially in the spring and summertime to enjoy the "Sawks!" and experience the whole "Baaston" thing. I have a very strong martini here which is more on the fancy side. Beer is always favored and poured. Ask for the head guy here who will remind you of one of the regulars on the show, Cheers. Here, I feel as though I were in Beantown. The environment is raucous. Crowds flock in from the first pitch of the game and the bar gets deafening- though it wasn't as much so when I went in due to the Bo Sox trailing miserable. 2006 was not a great year for the team but expect the team and their loyal, passionate followers to keep pushing on-hopefully knocking the damn Yankees down in the process.
Dish? What dish? Hee Hee... I will have to try the fish here sometime! Leave a Comment

Come to Fritto Misto for the great, filling pasta and then walk off the calories to the beach. The atmosphere is nice, colorful and cozy. Why this place is called Fritto Misto puzzles me because "fritto misto" means "fried mix" and refers to seafood usually. Fish is not a main dish to eat here nor is this place a stir fry place for sure. But what's in a name really? Prices here are quite reasonable, definitely so considerable the restaurant is somewhat near the beach and is attractive. If in Beverly Hills, for example, they'd be twice as much. The dining room mirrors one in Provence with harmonizing yellow and rich blue. On the exterior, the orangy peach paint makes the restaurant hard to overlook. Choose off the menu or make your own pasta creation, which I did. What's more: There is a corkage fee of $1.50 so a good place to share your own bottle of wine. The restaurant specializes in high protein and vegetarian pasta dishes. Hours are Mon-Thur 11:30 10:00, Fri/Sat 11:30-10:30, Sun 11:30-9:30.
Spinach Pesto pasta with kalamata olives-- my creation (OMG- way too many kalamata on the plate but can't complain too much!) Fritto Misto is a great little joint on the very happening Pier Ave in downtown Hermosa Beach. The prices are great and the food is good, so this small little Italian restaurant is a popular destination for groups on Friday and Saturday nights. There's usually a wait to eat there on the weekends and it can get quite loud /crowded; I'm not sure if they take reservations, but it's definitely worth it if you're in the mood for some inexpensive Italian food and a tiny corkage fee. It's only $2.50 per person (Buona Vita in Hermosa has $0 corkage) - which is cheap in comparison to most. The menu offers extensive choices, and also features quite a diverse selection of ingredients to "Create Your Own Pasta." Their other dishes are good as well. I had Ravioli with jalapeno cilantro cream sauce, topped with pico de gallo and some red pepper. Sounds like an odd combination, but it was pretty tasty. My friend ordered the gnocchi and was very pleased with it as well. You can get in and out with dinner, wine and a tip for under $20. Not bad around these parts!
The bread and the pasta - try something new!

I am somewhat addicted to the sushi at Fusion Sushi. There are a few of these around, so check it out if you see one by you. I usually order takeout but have eaten in the restaurant a few times. Also, every time I go into the restaurant to pick up my food, I notice a few specials that I'm always interested in. The fish is fresh and the prices are MORE than reasonable.
I love the asparagus snow roll, which has asparagus and crab on the inside and baked salmon on the outside. I'm always surprised that it tastes better than I remember. We were in town for the evening and decided to meet up with fellow VT'er Yubert for dinner. He suggested the Hermosa Fish Market Cafe...seafood tastes better when you're relaxing on a beachside patio and breathing fresh ocean air.
LJ ordered the Seafood Paella (saffron rice mixed in with a healthy portion of seafood)...I ordered Clam Chowder for an appetizer and the Shrimp Curry Platter (curry shrimp, mushrooms, onions and peppers over rice) for dinner while Yubert had Grilled Swordfish Fillet with French Fries on the side.
