There is hope for NY-style pizza lovers in southern California. It takes some searching but one will find it to near perfection at Paisano's. Expect a not so fancy-smancy diner for major pizza consuming. What keeps me coming back here is a variety of slices is about always available-not just pepperoni and cheese from which to choose! Though some bad reviews have been posted on the web, my experience has been very favorable with service being prompt and out of the way friendly. The decor inside is typical pseudo-NY style with the obligatory Sinatra and Dean pics on the wall, movie posters like that of The Godfather and yada yada yada.... Basically, for those coming to Hermosa , fiklll your appetite here after a nice, long walk along the shoreline and the strand.
Favorite Dish: pizza with eggplant and/or chicken; white pizza
All varieties of pizza are good to me here but I single out these since it's rare to get these available right away by slice.

I am somewhat addicted to the sushi at Fusion Sushi. There are a few of these around, so check it out if you see one by you. I usually order takeout but have eaten in the restaurant a few times. Also, every time I go into the restaurant to pick up my food, I notice a few specials that I'm always interested in. The fish is fresh and the prices are MORE than reasonable.
Favorite Dish: I love the asparagus snow roll, which has asparagus and crab on the inside and baked salmon on the outside. I'm always surprised that it tastes better than I remember.

While the food isn’t great, and the delivery service is an absolute perfect model of inefficiency, we continue to order from Italy’s Little Kitchen about once a month. Why? Mostly because there aren’t a lot of restaurants that deliver in the South Bay. You can order through a food delivery service such as LAbites, but they charge you so many fees, it just gets too expensive. If you ever order delivery from ILK, just make sure you give them an hour and a half to get it to you. As long as you plan ahead, I don’t think you’ll be disappointed with their average (at best) food. The pizza Margarita IS good, and so is the bread.
I used to go to their other restaurant in Westchester while I was in college and I was never disappointed. Maybe I’m too picky now? Either way, I don’t think it’s worth the effort to actually eat at ILK; there are enough other good restaurants in the area. A good alternative would be The Bottled Inn, in Hermosa Beach. Ask to sit in the wine cellar, or on the patio if it’s a nice day.
Favorite Dish: Pizza Margarita, chicken salad, and their bread.

Come to Fritto Misto for the great, filling pasta and then walk off the calories to the beach. The atmosphere is nice, colorful and cozy. Why this place is called Fritto Misto puzzles me because "fritto misto" means "fried mix" and refers to seafood usually. Fish is not a main dish to eat here nor is this place a stir fry place for sure. But what's in a name really? Prices here are quite reasonable, definitely so considerable the restaurant is somewhat near the beach and is attractive. If in Beverly Hills, for example, they'd be twice as much. The dining room mirrors one in Provence with harmonizing yellow and rich blue. On the exterior, the orangy peach paint makes the restaurant hard to overlook. Choose off the menu or make your own pasta creation, which I did.
What's more:
There is a corkage fee of $1.50 so a good place to share your own bottle of wine.
The restaurant specializes in high protein and vegetarian pasta dishes.
Hours are Mon-Thur 11:30 10:00, Fri/Sat 11:30-10:30, Sun 11:30-9:30.
Favorite Dish: Spinach Pesto pasta with kalamata olives-- my creation (OMG- way too many kalamata on the plate but can't complain too much!)

We were in town for the evening and decided to meet up with fellow VT'er Yubert for dinner. He suggested the Hermosa Fish Market Cafe...seafood tastes better when you're relaxing on a beachside patio and breathing fresh ocean air.
Favorite Dish: LJ ordered the Seafood Paella (saffron rice mixed in with a healthy portion of seafood)...I ordered Clam Chowder for an appetizer and the Shrimp Curry Platter (curry shrimp, mushrooms, onions and peppers over rice) for dinner while Yubert had Grilled Swordfish Fillet with French Fries on the side.

They have great breakfast sandwiches and regular sandwiches and macaroni salad, potato salad, that kind of deli salad. I go there a lot after practice. They use really good Boar's Head brand meat, which is really good.
Favorite Dish: Turkey, salami and cheese on a roll with pickles and pepperoncinis with Italian dressing. YES! It's a good sandwich. The breakfast sandwiches are really good too. (You can get them all day.)

I eat here once or twice a week and the food is healthy, fresh, and delicious. You really can't go wrong. And it's guilt free. That's how healthy it is! But not bland at all! I am a huge fan! Warning: this is a husband and wife team. It takes a while for the husband (who is otherwise great) to warm up to you. Don't be offended he's like that to everyone.
Favorite Dish: I think my favorite is chicken with broccoli and sh itake mushrooms. I get it medium spicy. It comes with white or brown rice. The brown rice is great..it's like sticky brown rice. And amazing salad. I don't know what it is, but it's amazing and the greens are organic to top it off. Sean's favorite chicken and garlic green beans. There are a lot of vegetarian options too for people who like that.

Usually when we travel, we scout out the restaurant scene on the net, in guide books and at Virtual Tourist. However, on this occasion our flight had been delayed so we had about 10 hours to kill so we decided to see some of the beach towns near L.A. At lunch time we were in the Hermosa Beach area and began searching for a light lunch. Turning off the main drag Connie saw an interesting looking little restaurant so we thought that we would scope out the menu. Everything looked good and seeing the crowd inside we decided to give it a try.
We were greeted by Tanya, who were later discovered was the owner/chef. After a struggle with the extensive menu, we made our choices and were in heaven for the next 30 minutes. ALL WAS SUPERB!!!!!
Favorite Dish: If you are lucky enough to make it here try; MUSHROOM WALNUT LOAF
Vegetarian meatloaf with mushrooms, walnuts, brown rice & cheese (with eggs) covered with our mushroom gravy. Served with veggie of the day. (The serving was HUGE!)
BAKED EGGPLANT
Perfectly seasoned eggplant, fresh tomatoes, bell peppers, onions, tofu, fresh garlic & marinara sauce. Served with brown rice & veggie of the day. Choice of soy or cheddar cheese.
Both were $9.95 as were most of the meals. See their website for the complete menu.

Nice little Cajun Restaurant. Very casual. The menus are brown paper bags. Nice collection of hot sauces and peppers on each table. Good food, reasonable price.
Favorite Dish: Blackened Chicken or Stuffed Snapper. An appetizer of fried shrimp is always good. Also the red beans and rice as a side. Blackened Voodoo Ale to go with.

The service is outstanding. While you wait for a table, you are given fresh baked bread and ice cold water. There is always a short wait...another mark of a truely great restaurant. The food is spectacular. For some, Olive Garden is fine Italian dining. If you fit that category...either stop reading now or get on a plane to Mama D's tomorrow. The food is so good that I had no leftovers, but if you do have to take a "doggy bag" home, the staff will carry it to your car.
Favorite Dish: The Veal Parm was fantastic but all the dishes are great.
