There are tons of beach courts, north and south of the pier for anybody who wants to play. I think that classes are available, but you can't just show up. You should find out about them first. If you go in the mornings you'll see pro's training. It's one of the most popular spots for training.

There are 65 Volleyball courts in Hermosa Beach. Durring the summer months they are almost always packed, however pick up games are easy to find. On any given day it is highly likley to spot one of the many Professional players that live and train in the area. Hermosa is also the home of the AVP Hermosa Open.
Equipment: a ball.

Surfing appears to be a very popular activity in Hermosa Beach (and the adjacent communities of Manhattan Beach and Redondo Beach).
I've never tried it but I know there are lessons available for those who want to try. For more information click here.

Hermosa Beach lives up to her name, being quite pretty but even better, quaint. The latter adjective is trite to describe cities and region, but in the case of Hermosa Beach, quaint is just the right...
