This is the budget area for having a quick coffee fix and a light breakfast while staying at the hotel if you don;t like paying $ 25 for a buffet breakfast at the twist restaurant.

CAFÉ FAMA SERVES THE PERFECT CUP OF ESPRESSO AT THE RENAISSANCE HOLLYWOOD HOTEL & SPA:
Wake Up To World Famous Italian illy Café In New Lobby Lounge With Special Communal Tables Wired For Power Plus The Whole Property is WiFi Ready (if you pay additional for the Wi Fi since internet connection is not included in the room rate)
Hollywood, California – The Renaissance Hollywood Hotel & Spa invites guests to taste the perfect cup of espresso from Italy at the new Café Fama (the Italian word for fame) located in the lobby. Starting at 6:30 am, guests will be drawn to the distinct illy fragrance with notes of chocolate, toast, honey and caramel which creates its full-bodied flavor, velvety and sweet. One sip will bring a pleasant bitter tingle to the taste buds slowly fading after several minutes while the aroma lingers on. Café Fama also serves muffins, scones and breakfast pastries until
11:00 am. Sandwiches and other grab and go delectables are available at lunchtime through 4:00 pm. The space becomes a lounge after that serving light appetizers and alcoholic beverages through 1:00 am.
Later in the day, the area is transformed into a lobby bar with a lounge type atmosphere still serving illy coffee but adding a full bar menu including the famous Renaissance Cocktail Culture, where a celebrity puts together a little martini of their own design and the hotel features it as the Cocktail of the Day.
Favorite Dish: Lobby Bar and Café Fama is the main snack and coffee area of the Hollywood Rennaisance Hotel and if you don;t want to eat the expensive breakfast buffet at the Twist Restaurant, you can buy assorted goodies here like a cold sandwich or a submarine at $ 7.99 and above plus assorted pastries, biscuits, bagels and more. Coffee is both by Starbucks and the Italian Brand Illy and costs about $ 4.50 a cup.

The Twist Restaurant is the main resto of the famed Hollywood Rennaisance Hotel and they offer breakfast, lunch and dinners. They feature hip and new california fusion cuisine. We ate here for breakfast since staying at expensive hotels don't include breakfast unlike staying at the days inn or howard johnson or travelodge where they give free continental breakfast. They have breakfast buffet specials at $ 24.95 per person! really expensive for a breakfast buffet.
According to Their Website:
Located on the Mezzanine Level, Twist's ultra-stylish, mid-century modern décor provides a unique setting for both intimate parties and larger events. Enjoy appetizers and cocktails in the lounge area, then experience innovative culinary creations in our dazzling main dining area. The restaurant's private dining area can be reserved for groups ranging from 40 to 400 people.

Off Vine is just that. Not located right on a main street in Hollywood but just a block south of Sunset Boulevard and west of Vine. A very tiny looking house but valet parking is available next door and street parking is available but not plentiful. I liked that when you enter, it really does look like a home with wood floors and you dine in the living room, bedrooms and upstairs. Reservations are a must especially if you are attending the theater. Everyone else will have the same idea. Four of us dined here ordering different dishes. I had the chicken marsala. Usually, a favorite of mine but I like it with pasta instead of the sweet potato mash they served it with. The short ribs, duck breast and pork chop everyone else ordered was also very good. Definitely, would come back again and try something else.

If you are looking for lean, fresh-food dining in the heart of Hollywood, arrive at Tender Greens. The Sunset and Vine location of this southern Califoria chain is in a prime spot for tourists and locals alike. A faithful crowd of health-conscious diners chow down on dishes that are under 500 calories, low in fats and high in proteins and vitamins.
Tender Green menu choices include salads, sandwiches, soups. Diners decide on having a "Hot Stuff" selection of marinated steak, salt and peppered chicken, albacore tuna or a vegetables medley served within a sandwich, on a hot plate or in a salad. Serving size for dishes are adequate and even more than so.
This green-minded eaterie is a perfect in-between of sophisticated fast food and chic dining.
Note:
There are other locations stretching just north of L.A. to one in San Diego.
This is a very vegetarian and vegan friendly restaurant.
Daily operation hours are 11:30am-10:00pm
This is a good option for a casual or special date.
Favorite Dish: Rustic Chicken Soup with Lemon Thyme and Baby Arugula Greens
a perfect combo for most
Soup served just right, not too hot/cold. Fresh right from the garden/fam taste, not salty. Good chunk of chickens.
Greens were very plentiful, even served as a small salad.

If you're near the theaters in Hollywood and are digging the sushi Scene: 2 Spots for you Katsuya and Geisha House. Geisha House has great food and is a bit more intimate than Katsuya, where Katsuya has an amazing design, it is a bit cold and ultra-modern. Geisha House is warm, friendly, and much better for a date, or at least thats my opinion. Because we ultimately come here for food, both are great, and Geisha is very good on all ends of the menu. Be sure to stop in and check it out, but, like all of Hollywood, please make a reservation. Sorry I don't have any photos of this spot :(
Favorite Dish: The rolls were fantastic, and this sake blend they made was awesome as well.

Koji's, located on the upper floor of the Hollywood and Highland Center, is a great spot to eat and drink before going out to a Hollywood nightclub. This hotspot features a great menu that your waiter will take you through, as I had no idea what shabu shabu meant. Great drinks and location, be sure to stop in!
Favorite Dish: Crunchy Shrimp and Rainbow Rolls baby!!! The shabu meal is good , too, with the delicious dipping sauces. I recommend the "Around the World" Meal- love the sauces and making it all my own!
