Capital Record's, Hollywood
The Capitol Records has always been the one landmark that tells you your near Hollywood. I cannot tell you how many times of the many years I have passed by the structure and never really took a look. As we explored Hollywood Blvd we made the point to walk down to Hollywood and Vine. Built in 1956 and designed by Welton Becke as a thirteen-story tower the resembles a stack of records on a turntable. Its been a Hollywood icon for many generations. An interesting fact. the needle tower that blinks, spells out the word "Hollywood" in Morse code. Never knew that.
Next to the Capitol Records is a gorgeous detailed mural designed and painted by artist Richard Wyatt. It depicts all the greats of the jazz era of 1945-1972 such as legends Chet Baker, Gerry Mulligan, Charlie Parker, Tito Puente, Miles Davis, Ella Fitzgerald, Shelly Manne, Dizzy Gillespie, Billy Holiday, Duke Ellington, and of course Nat ‘King’ Cole.
