This place is very exclusive club that only members are allowed to see its secret confines. I had the opportunity to attend and I appreciate it, but was not interested because it was too expensive. I felt my time was better spent sighting seeing so many wonderful things Hollywood had to offer. Yet, for others, you might want to take on a new adventure the Magic Castle has to offer. They have many different rooms and bars that a variety of magic shows are being performed. What I hear it was not a bad experience.

Shhh! It's a Secret.
Well, not exactly a secret, but an exclusive place to visit. This is sort of a "catch 22" type of thing. To visit the Magic Castle, you have to belong to the club or be a guest of someone who does. This is not likely for a tourist so why bring it up? The Club is "The Academy of Magical Arts."
Well, there is a "back-door" sort of way to get in. Just check into the Magic Castle Hotel. A room will cost almost the price of Membership, (At present is $250.00) but you don't have to have any interest/talents as a Magician. (Which you do have to have to become a member.)
So, through VT Staff, I was invited to the Magic Castle for dinner and magic shows all night long. It was a wonderful evening. The Dress Code is unusually strict by "California Standards" but not oppressive. Everyone wore evening dress and this helped to make the experience feel special. Valet parking, a cordoned off section to line up at while waiting for the doors to open and for the guests to be invited in. Also, a professional photographer will gladly take a souvenir photo of you while waiting. No cameras beyond the Foyer. I will say there was enough in the foyer to give an accurate "feel" of the place.
They had five bars and at least as many venues for magic shows including the Palace of Magic which was the "big" stage event.
Either President Obama was there or this place had the tightest security of any I've ever been to, even when the President was there. I guess keeping magic ticks a secret is serious business. Don't even try to go against the house rules or you'll forever be banned.

The Magic Castle
"The Magic Castle opened its doors at 5 p.m. on January 2, 1963. Today more than four decades later, the Castle has become the world-famous "home" to the Academy of Magical Arts, Inc.and their invited guests. The Magic Castle is the private clubhouse for the Academy of Magical Arts, Inc, a very special organization devoted to the advancement of the ancient art of magic. The purpose of The Academy is to encourage and promote public interest in the art of magic with particular emphasis on preserving its history as an art form, entertainment medium, and hobby. Beginning with a charter membership of 150, the Academy has grown into a world-renowned fraternal organization with a membership of nearly 5,000."
The Magic Castle is a private club. You must be a member or have a guest card from a member. You must have your guest card with you when you arrive at the Magic Castle.
Dinner seatings are at 6:00PM, 8:00PM, and 9:15PM. I like to go to the 6pm dinner seating because it is not as crowded and I have the rest of the night to check out the shows and hang out at the bar. It is somewhat expensive here, for example Rob and I went with our good friends Manny and Marisela for dinner and the bill ran up to over three hundred dollars. Dinner is very good, the service is impecable, and the shows are excellent. I brought a camera but once inside you are not allowed to take pictures. The dress code is strictly enforced, men have to wear a jacket and tie and women have to wear either dresses or pantsuits, no casual wear. it was definitely a fun time.
