NO LIFEGUARD ON DUTY
Helpfulness
LoriPori 3011 reviews
This time of the year, when the beach is quiet and tourists and swimmers are few, obviously there is NO LIFEGUARD ON DUTY. The waves can be very treacherous and can pull you out to sea very quickly. So take care not to venture too far out and even be careful as you walk along the edges of the water.

VENTURA
Helpfulness
LoriPori 3011 reviews
Incorporated in 1866, the city of San Buenaventura or simply VENTURA had its beginnings when Padre Junipero Serra founded the Mission San Buenaventura in 1782.
After the American Civil War, settlers came to the area, buying land from the Mexicans.
Ventura has some of the best surfing in Southern California, especially Surfer's Point.
Downtown Ventura on Main Street, where we mostly visited, is home to the Mission, museums, shopping and dining. What I couldn't get over was how many thrift shops there were. Had to be four or five stores and every one of them was well stocked and busy.
Our dear friend and VT member, Kathleen (Keida84) took us here for a nice little visit. Thanks KitKat. You're the BEST!

HOLLYWOOD BEACH
Helpfulness
LoriPori 3011 reviews
Favorite thing: An hour's drive north of Los Angeles, HOLLYWOOD BEACH is one of southern California's best-kept secrets. Located in Ventura County, this beach community has a collection of beach homes, town houses and condos, in between the Harbor on one side and the Pacific Ocean with views of the Channel Islands on the other. Its wide, mile-long strip of white sand beach is absolutely wonderful. Hans and I so enjoyed walking along the beach. I had fun collection beach glass and even found one white shark's tooth.
