This is a great little espresso bar right on Beach in the Big Lots center. Cheers style bar style where everyone gets to know everyone. Unlike any other coffee shop, and using only the best beans and machines. Come on down when you can, they open early. The best drinks in Orange County hands down.
Favorite Dish: One of my favorite drinks (and usually anyone I let try mine) is the Banana Split Frappe blended drink... yum
This Italian Deli has been at the cornor of Magnolia/Adams at least 40 years I remember going their when I was a kid.Has a 18 inch sub for 5.99 can't beat it also a small restaurant deli and bakery
Favorite Dish: Sub sandwich
Driving down Pacific Coast Hwy from Huntington beach pier south into Newport Beach ,Corona Del Mar and Laguna Beach you will find any kind of restaurant you could want.Plan on long waits on FRi and Sat nights. Walking up Main St you will find Wahoo's fish tacos Mexican food seafood almost anything you could want.
Favorite Dish: Sugar Shake is by far the best place for breakfast/lunch go in the morning before 8 get right in after that a wait You will see all the people waiting and the two restaurants next door empty theres a reason.
Dukes is next to the pier and has good steaks and seafood. Good view of ocean. There is also another restaurant under Dukes but don't know the name as it is always changing. Last I looked it was Asian Fuson. Both these restaurants have prime locations and you are paying more for the view than the food but both do have good food.
Favorite Dish: everything
This is a laid back local place on Main St best breakfast anywhere.Opens at 4AM for surfers outside seating in front on Main St or in the back go early or plan to wait. Open for Breakfast and lunch and on Wed night for a Turkey dinner.
Favorite Dish: French Toast can't beat Ham Cheese avocado omlete everything
This tiny restaurant in a strip mall off a busy street is not a place someone would drive by and say, "I've got to try that place some day." It is one of my all-time favorite restaurants. The pasta is fantastic here! I always get the Mezza Mezza -- a huge bowl filled half-and-half with fettucine alfredo and penne in red sauce. The meals come with salad and warm bread, straight out of the oven.
They have several daily specials with fish, beef, or a large salad.
It is usually crowded and you'll have to wait outside for your table so dress warmly during the cooler months (although they do provide some blankets for you). It is always worth the wait.
Favorite Dish: The Mezza Mezza!
My husband and I have been going to Kiku for over 10 years now. you can find us there at least once a week. They are the best. The portions are more than generous. no one has fresher fish. Husband and wife run the place - and the husband is the one behind the sushi bar and handling the cooked food - so be patient. This is not the place to go if you are in a hurry, but it certainly is the place to go if you want to hang out with locals and want the best sushi in town.
And to find out about more local restaurants, make sure to check out the site all about 'where the locals go' in Huntington Beach: www.thelocalhb.com
Favorite Dish: all the sushi orders, but the best is his Poki Bowl.
La Choza just opened up in Huntington Beach. We just tried it for the first time and were pleasantly surprised. very authentic, very tasty. even homemade torillas!
Favorite Dish: everything we tried was good: relleno, chicken taco, enchilada. Beans and rice were also good.
Slow Fish Cal-Korean cusine - Stop by and enjoy the delectable sushi, the fresh local fish and seafood at this charming casual cafe situated in in the heart of Huntington Beach. Dishes are designed and prepared to be savored leisurely in honor of the Slow Food Movement. Enjoy sake pairing dinners, a prixe fixe menu or express lunch. Don't forget to try the Fat-Avo, an "apple" of seared albacore covered in avacado slices - one of their signature dishes.
Favorite Dish: Besides the "Fat Avo", their seared tuna salad is right up there. In fact, everything on the menu is superb.
They have a really big menu and everything I've had is pretty good. The staff is great though. Fun sushi chefs. Owners/managers are really nice too. Got two free bottles of sake last time I was there for no apparent reason. Gotta like that.
Ruby's Diner is a pretty decent little joint. They have a few of them around Orange County, and the burgers are great, the shakes even better. So a Ruby's is a good choice for grub as it is. But then add to that a Ruby's at the end of Huntington Pier, well, what more do you need...
One caution. This place gets pretty packed on the weekends, so hit a weekday. Also, the view is much better during the day. Since the ocean is essentially pitch black at night, you can't see much through the glare on the windows.
Favorite Dish: Good old fashioned cheeseburger, and whatever shake they have on special that month.
Very casual, relaxed atmosphere, kind of like Huntington Beach. Typical Brewpub type of fair, but better than most as far as quality is concerned. Pretty good view of the street below depending on where you sit. Plenty of TV's to watch whatever sport you're interested in. But the real reason to come here is the beer. Locally brewed varieties on tap. At $3.50 a pint, definitely worth walking up a flight a stairs.
Favorite Dish: They have food...? My favorite is the Huntington Beach Blonde. It's an award winning malt. Nice, light, very tasty.
We wanted a mexican meal, and the hotel desk lady said she'd been eating at La Cappilla for 20 years. Best recommendation we had all vacation! Their chips and salsa are awesome; best salsa I've ever had at a restaurant. Lots of food for a bargain price. I had a combo meal with a "small" tostada with plenty of shredded beef and a good chile rellano, came with beans, rice, sour cream and guacamole. I couldn't eat it all, but wished I could. The service was unbelievable; they were practically lined up 3 in a row to serve water, chips & salsa, drinks, and take our order. Extremely efficient and friendly. We didn't even spend $10 per person, but tipped well for the service. If we lived in Huntington Beach, I'm sure we'd eat at La Cappilla at least every other week.
Favorite Dish: The best salsa; lots of onion and cilantro. The guacamole was excellant, too.
Tsunamis is a great little Japanese / Sushi spot in Huntington Beach. Monday nights here get really crowded and the wait time is long, so better get here early. Along with sit down, and a Sushi bar they also have Teppan Grill. The rolls here are a good size with thick cuts of sushi and not too much rice. My favorite roll here is the Crunchy Roll. I think they make the best crunchy rolls. You defintely have to try those. All there other rolls are good to. The teppan chefs are really cool and give a good show. There is also a full bar here. If i remember correctly crunchy rolls during happy hour cost around 7-8$ and well worth it.
Dukes is located in a great place. Its right in front of the Huntington beach Pier and across from main street. It has great views of the Pacific Ocean. The food here is excellent. Ive eaten at the Dukes in Hawaii more times than here, but i think i like the food here a little bit more. I forgot the name of the dish here, but its chicken and beef skewers with vegetables and rice. This is excellent. The chicken is great and meat is so tender. I definitely recommend this dish. I believe it costs around 16$
