  • Mr Ps Espresso Italiano Caffe: Authentic Espresso Bar in the OC

    by HBSteve88 Written Nov 21, 2009 1 reviews

This is a great little espresso bar right on Beach in the Big Lots center. Cheers style bar style where everyone gets to know everyone. Unlike any other coffee shop, and using only the best beans and machines. Come on down when you can, they open early. The best drinks in Orange County hands down.

Favorite Dish: One of my favorite drinks (and usually anyone I let try mine) is the Banana Split Frappe blended drink... yum

    Dukes: Steaks Seafood

by kenstan Written Jul 23, 2008 80 reviews
    view from restaurant

Dukes is next to the pier and has good steaks and seafood. Good view of ocean. There is also another restaurant under Dukes but don't know the name as it is always changing. Last I looked it was Asian Fuson. Both these restaurants have prime locations and you are paying more for the view than the food but both do have good food.

    Favorite Dish: everything

Basilico's Pasta E Vino: Fantastic Italian

by cricketdog Written Sep 19, 2007 20 reviews

This tiny restaurant in a strip mall off a busy street is not a place someone would drive by and say, "I've got to try that place some day." It is one of my all-time favorite restaurants. The pasta is fantastic here! I always get the Mezza Mezza -- a huge bowl filled half-and-half with fettucine alfredo and penne in red sauce. The meals come with salad and warm bread, straight out of the oven.

They have several daily specials with fish, beef, or a large salad.

It is usually crowded and you'll have to wait outside for your table so dress warmly during the cooler months (although they do provide some blankets for you). It is always worth the wait.

    Favorite Dish: The Mezza Mezza!

Kiku: The freshest sushi in Huntington Beach

by HBLocal Written Sep 17, 2007 5 reviews

My husband and I have been going to Kiku for over 10 years now. you can find us there at least once a week. They are the best. The portions are more than generous. no one has fresher fish. Husband and wife run the place - and the husband is the one behind the sushi bar and handling the cooked food - so be patient. This is not the place to go if you are in a hurry, but it certainly is the place to go if you want to hang out with locals and want the best sushi in town.

And to find out about more local restaurants, make sure to check out the site all about 'where the locals go' in Huntington Beach: www.thelocalhb.com

Favorite Dish: all the sushi orders, but the best is his Poki Bowl.

Slow Fish: Best new restaurant in town!

by HBLocal Written Aug 26, 2007 5 reviews

    2.5 out of 5 starsHelpfulness

Slow Fish Cal-Korean cusine - Stop by and enjoy the delectable sushi, the fresh local fish and seafood at this charming casual cafe situated in in the heart of Huntington Beach. Dishes are designed and prepared to be savored leisurely in honor of the Slow Food Movement. Enjoy sake pairing dinners, a prixe fixe menu or express lunch. Don't forget to try the Fat-Avo, an "apple" of seared albacore covered in avacado slices - one of their signature dishes.

Favorite Dish: Besides the "Fat Avo", their seared tuna salad is right up there. In fact, everything on the menu is superb.

Sushi on Fire: Great sushi place on main street

They have a really big menu and everything I've had is pretty good. The staff is great though. Fun sushi chefs. Owners/managers are really nice too. Got two free bottles of sake last time I was there for no apparent reason. Gotta like that.
