  • All shout hey for OCTA...that's the Orange County transport someting or other...
Don't pay for any individual trips with these guys if you're on a sight seeing mission...
$2.50 in their till and you can travel from San Clemente to Huntington Beach and up to Long Beach, getting on and off as often as you like...remember...The Queen Mary, the Aquarium, CA Disneyland and others are the sights to be seen down here..happy travels
PS: People are generally nice so talk to them...its fun.. :-)
PPS: If you get lost or in trouble, ring the number above quoting the 4 digit number on the bus stop and they'll help you out...I KNOW...:-)

Come/depart here via the 29 bus

  • So, you are already in Orange county for fun and want to come to HB for more? Find your way to Beach Blvd. which will, yes, lead you directly to the beach at Huntington. The OCTA 29 travels along Beach and I have often come down to HB this way. Mostly the ride is comfortable- except when the bus is at capacity. Don'e be surprised by delays on the 29 especially during peak traffic hours of about 3-6 PM (everyday) since it is one of the most popular routes but its convenience to beach fun does make the trip worth it.

All right, so you are at the beach already here and want to venture further into HB? Head on the 29 OCTA bus located along PCH (main stop at PCH/Main) and take a less than half hour trip to the latest and greatest HB hang out - Bella Terra for shopping, singing, and the movies.

A nice Orange County visit that includes HB can be made using the bus if you don't mind or are dependent on travelling by bus:

Use the 29 to travel north from HB (especially to Buena Park where Knotts Berry Farm and other entertaining attractions are located. Travel time between the two cities is about 1 hr by bus.)

The 29 bus average a 30 min wait at stops and sometimes quicker..

  • I usually fly there into Orange County Airport or LAX. But if you are on a road trip, driving straight down the PCH and stopping in all the little beach towns along the way is definitely the greatest thrill.
    Drive or Walk.

If you fly to LA and you are looking for a good hostel to stay, go to HB. by looking at the map it might seem like a far away and yes, it belongs to OC not LA County. But it is better than hostels nearby (believe me or ask Jenn_D) and to reach it is not too difficult. Just be patience and take a look to this notes...

From Los Angeles International Airport (LAX)
Take the free Airport Shuttle Bus to Parking Lot C (The MTA Bus Terminal). Take Bus # 232 to the end of the line in Long Beach. Cross the street to take MTD Bus # 91, 92, 93 or 94 to the VA Hospital. At the Hospital, transfer to OCTA Bus # 1 and travel to Huntington Beach, exiting the Bus at Pacific Coast Highway (PCH) and 8th Street. (See Map).

Alternate LAX Route (more expensive but easier): Please claim your baggage first. Exit the baggage claim area and cross the roadway to the middle island. Look for Prim Time, Super Shuttle or Xpress Shuttle customer service agent. Use your negotiating skills to get the lowest price. Prices usually range between $25 and $45.
