If youv'e never been in surf before and you want to try bodysurfing or boogie boarding, just be aware that even a small wave can drive you into the sand headfirst. Many people break thier necks when they hit the sand. It's certainly OK to try these sports, but just be aware and keep your hands out in front of you if possible and be careful. Leave a Comment

In the summer, jellyfish have been washing upshore and causing a bit of panic or uneasiness. Jellyfish can sting , with a hurt like a bee. People are actually flocking to the beach in the early morning to see these slimmies up close. Fools beware: enter the water with caution! Leave a Comment

MAke sure you follow the speed limit and watch where you park your car. Ticketing there is outrageous and the meters downtown are quite expensive. Leave a Comment

On Pacific Coast Highway there are always motorcycle cops hiding behind bushes or behind signs. Obey the speed limit on PCH or chances are you will get a ticket. Leave a Comment

waves at Huntington Beach, California by marinarena As seen up close the waves in HB can get dangerous. There is not always a lifeguard present, so take it easy when the tide is high. Pay heed to the official warnings. Of course, the surfers won't pay any mind and head high, chompin' at the bit to get down and "shread" the tide. Look at the black spots against the wave in the picture- they are surfers! Leave a Comment

by Scandic It can cost you $$$$$$! Or what do you think about this? "HUNTINGTON BEACH, Calif. - Using a cellular telephone in a city library could cost incessant yakkers plenty - up to $1,000. City leaders adopted an ordinance, which takes effect Sept. 15, that bans all cell phone use in libraries, including talking, text messaging and ringing tones of any kind. First-time violators will be warned, then fined $250 if they don't comply. A second offense gets a $500 fine and a third offense gets a $1,000 fine. Huntington Beach civic leaders believe those may be the nation's stiffest fines for cell use. The ordinance was prompted by complaints about annoying rings and people walking around or standing at computer terminals chatting loudly. "People are really getting sick of these things with the screaming and yelling and these anguished conversations," said Carol "Miss Manners" Page, founder of CellManners.com, a site dedicated to promoting cell phone etiquette." by kenstan Rip Tides are currents that pull you out to sea and you can't swim back against them. If you get caught in one swim to the side until you are out of the current then swim back to shore. Leave a Comment
