Irvine Spectrum is "where it's at". The "it" can many things- mostly it is the overall outdoor entertainment, opulence, and parking traffic headache of Orange county! Well, I shouldn't knock the parking situation there too much now because there are new parking garages there now -but there is still a mess there with the cars!
It's never an easy thing to park here especially during the weekends and just about any evening at 8 PM , prime-time for dinner outings. For all of those whose patience runs a little short, I suggest you come here as soon as you can before the moon shows its face. Still, OC locals and others come here to hang out be seen, go for a date, dine, have a drink and a good time- and, oh yeah, there is a lot of shopping to do here. Be prepared to flash your Visa credit card a lot here. You think a place located at 71 Fortune Drive would be cheap? Not!I Well, actually, Irvine Spectrum has some of most opulent shops in the county as well as some more ordinary stores. There are stores that have the fancy-foreign, expensive -sounding names like Arte de Boutique and with the Valentino Chocolatier, Nordstrom and Anthropologie stores, you know that you'll have to break out the wallet. Still, there is also a Tilly's and Forever 21 along with modest eateries to satisfy a non-grand gourmet gout.
Here are some enjoyable places to go to here:
Edwards movie theater- I should make a tip on this soon. There are IMAX theaters at this particular Edwards, so this megaplex is more special.
Oh, and for all of you show-offs: Valet parking is available and very much a big deal here. Go ahead and let your shiny Lexus be showcased.
Dress Code: no code, just bring a coat at night. It gets quite brisk especially in Irvine which is not so far from Newport Beach, so that off shore flow breezes right in.
Chateaux is a restaurant and meeting spot but at 10 pm it changes into the best nightclub in Orange County! They have different music on different nights, included salsa on Tues. with lessons before the club opens! They have different DJ's depending on the night and a hip crowd. There is a dress code and bottle service is an options. They have many different areas to hang out both inside and out. We had a great time and met some friendly new people! Great food and music!
Tip: Call before and get on the guest list!
Dress Code: No jeans or tennis shoes- it's OC dress your best!
This fitness center was right across the freeway from the back of the hotel. I'm pretty sure it is open 24/7 because it was open everytime I walked outside, even at ungodly hours like 5 am. I was still on Eastern Standard Time! Geez, y'all read something bad into everything. ;-)
Dress Code: Wear your workout gear and sweat to impress!
Typical Irvine "bar/restaurant" scene. I'm not sure that I like the crowd here on the weekends, but it's a fun business/ after work crowd on weeknights. Drinks are a little expensive for my personal taste.
We drove around a few clubs in Irvine. It was a Friday or Saturday night in summer and for some reason everywhere seemed to be empty or close to. I guess we should have went to West Hollywood as originally planned.
Dress Code: oh everyone was dressed up, though we had no problems wearing jeans.
