Head to the "Audubon House" to chat up the locals, and then head off to the trails and watch birds on a 300 acre sanctuary. There are several ponds, thriving local plants, and lots of birds. 10 miles of trail meander through it all, and not many people disturb your enjoyment. This is a beautiful place. Hey, I just take the pictures here, ok? To my camera-like-eye this is just an example of some new-growth-appendages that need to be "shaped-up" by the landscaping and maintence crew. And Soon! What do you see??? heeheeheehee
The University of California Irvine has a gorgeous green campus and surrounding area full of elegant trees and cute rabbits and squirrels scurrying around. I was first introduced to teh campus durign high school era when I was practing for the SAT. Since then, I have loved going for walks.
If you happen to be catching a UCI sports game or attending a concert or a function at the uni's Bren Events Center, why not take some time and have a picnic on the green?
OK, it may be a bit odd to visit a place to pick fruit and veggies but this is an interesting experience, especially in the spring in Orange County. Strawberries are plentiful in this time of the year. They make for a great snack- much better than popcorn chicken at the local KFC I think!
Group tours are especially aimed for school kids. The cost of a tour, $10, includes a wagon ride (well, why not--we are in the wild, wild, west!). Grown-ups can also enjoy the farm, using it as a field trip or sorts.
Expect to spend a few hours here in the usually sunny Orange county!
Check out the website for scenes from the farm and directions.
