Cottonwood Springs Oasis
by KimberlyAnn Here you will find a variety of trails including a short, easy, 1 mile Nature Trail. The Nature Trail passes through the rolling hills of the Colorado Desert and has signs along the trail to tell you about the plants, animals, and the history of the Cahuilla Indians who use to live in the area. The Cottonwood Oasis Springs is a major water source in the park, sometimes producing as much as 30 gallons of water an hour. There is a wonderful collection of Fan Palms and cottonwoods around the springs. Pick up the park handout titled “A Day at Cottonwood Spring” to learn more about the area. It will provide a map for you to follow which will give you a variety of trails to choose from besides the Nature Trail and the Oasis. Leave a Comment
