La Habra Corn FestivalIn early August, the O.C city of La Habra gets some O.C. county attention with its annual Corn Festival. Three whole days of fun and festivity are held in the heart of LH- at El Centro-Lions Park, founds by the community group, La Habra Lions. Though just one of several festivals taking place during the summer, it still does...more
Children's Museum of La HabraHurray! La Habra does have a touristy landmark. OK, it's not Disneyland but, hey, it's something! It's perfect for this community. The museum is not so big and flashy but attractive and neat. It is touted as the only museum where it is allowed to touch things and be a part of what is on display. There is a permanent...more

In a modest town such as La Habra, one expects to go out of town for fine dining, at least immediately east to more chic Fullerton and Brea. This would be the case if there was not The Cat and Custard Cup on historic Whittier Blvd. A truly delightful culinary establishment is well hidden in the middle of the nowhere that is La Habra. This is an...more
El Cholo has a chain of beautiful and widely touted restaurants in L.A. and Orange counties. Gladly, modest La Habra can claim having one, located along the locally famous Whittier Blvd, known for its classic Latino vibe. The colorful eaterie is just off Harbor Blvd, the avenue leading to Disneyland. Read El Cholo's story on website. very...more
Taco Nazo is a city favorite of mine. There are a few other locations (I believe no more than 6) but the one in La Habra is the one I know and the best overall location, off Beach Blvd. Choose from tacos, burritos, tortas (sandwiches) and mariscos (seafood). I almost always get the popular taco pesado (see below). If you love spicy food, you must...more
Even if you have been to the other El Colos, this one is the BEST! The full menu is available in the bar, and they have the greatest margaritas. In the picture, you might notice the mariachis behind my friends and me. They're there every Friday and Saturday. And on most Fridays there is an outside grill for the cantina tacos (75 cents each)! The...more
On any given night, the dining room and patio Niko Niko is packed with regulars and first time guests dining on fresh sushi, seafood, salad and more. Like everywhere else in Southern California, sushi and Japanese restuarants are thriving and why not. There needs to be healthier and gourmet alternatives here !! Baked Salmon Roll!Fresh salmon...more
For So California visitors and those already here, head to this independent coffeehouse . There are various locations, but I just visited this one in La Habra. There is very genuine friendly customer service to go along with your coffee or tea. Also there are very delectable desserts- like the banana "motobar" pastry which is quite...more
The La Habra 16 movie theater is located on Imperial Highway. They have, as the name suggest, 16 theaters and are open from 9am until the wee hours of the morning when a new movie is out. The cost for tickets is not so bad when you do the matinee thing where you can get to see a first run movie for $5.75. The matinees are normally before 530pm so pick a movie before that time.
Some locals complain of the lack of freeway access here, especially my mother. La Habra is easy to miss if travelling by freeway in southern California. The closest freeway exit to LH is the 57exit off Lambert Rd , a few miles away (about 10 min drive) from the town's center .
La Habra is the exceptional town of Orange county, the only one with the higher tax rate on purchases! Boo! She really wants to be in higher taxing Los Angeles county! As of 2011, the sales tax is at a rate of 8.25, the same as the city of L.A. and L.A towns within the county. Check site for any updates on the tax.
If you are drifting from the freeways and happen to be in the area, you'll be in luck! La Habra tends to have less expensive gas than in other cities, about $ 0.05- 0.30 cents less than the L.A. average ! So, if La Habra can be known for something locally, it can be deemed the "cheap gas" city of Orange county! I know, it's a silly thing really but...more
Here is a morning ritual of sorts in La Habra. Locals flock to the neighborhood ranch market featuring the best deal on the basic produce items and more. Lettuce is usually 50 cents a head , apples 50 cents a pound and mushrooms just over one dollar ! There are many imported little treats like cheeses from Bulgarian, kalamata olives from Greece,...more
This is a very bad intersection as many folks use the right turn only lane as their shortcut around the other drivers.
Please ... if you are in a right turn only lane make the right turn.
Westridge is a beautiful hillside public course that is definatively off the beaten path in So Cal.
There is a man-made lake and though the yardage is small, the layout is a good challenge for the intermediate and skilled players.
The signature hole is #16, a 337-yard, par 4.
Fees are $50-80
Equipment: A collared shirt and bermuda shorts! No denim
