I can not imagine a better place to play beach volleyball than at this location at Victoria Beach in Laguna. There are also a few courts at the more crowded & well known location, Main Beach in Laguna.
You can find access to this local treasure from Victoria Street off PCH. Come early parking spaces on the nearby streets go quick !

Alta means upper in Spanish, and Alta Laguna Park is as high up as you can go in Laguna. this area called Top of the World. The views from this area called Top of the World are stunning so don't forget to bring a camera. The park has playgrounds, picnic tables, basketball & tennis courts. There is also a great intermediate hiking trail along the ridge with some challenging hills to climb, but the views over Laguna Beach Coast and Aliso Wood Canyons on the inland side are well worth the effort.

Kayaking with the guys from Overboard Adventures was so fun! It was a cool experience to kayak in the ocean.
Being from the Midwest, I didn't know what to expect, but the guides were very patient while explaining how to paddle & steer to me and my friends. We went along the shore and saw sea lions, cormorants, and pelicans out resting in the sun on some rocks, little yellow crabs sitting on the kelp leaves, and Garibaldi fish down amongst the kelp. We also saw two different types of jellyfish and my friends saw a dolphin! (I missed it cause I was busy looking at the kelp...)
The guides were very knowledgeable about the types of plants and animals we saw; they explained how the kelp beds are restored and told us about a marine mammal center that rescues sea lions and seals. They also explained the history of the area to us tourists, and even knew some real estate info when my friends & I were speculating about how much the houses in that area must cost!
It was a great way to see a bit of nature while on vacation in LA! The guides were really nice and made the whole experience fun. My only regret was the sunburn I got due to my incompetent sunscreen application!
Equipment: Wear sunglasses and put on lots of sunscreen! Bring a bottle of water, they provide all the kayaking gear.

Aliso Creek Golf course is a beautiful (very small) course hidden near Aliso Creek Beach. Most native laguna residents don't even know it's there. But if you want a quick game before the sun starts beating down, it's idyllic & close by. There's also a nice clubhouse/restaurant overlooking the course.
Equipment: Duh, bring golf equpment. My suggestion is that you book your tee time as early as possilbe. The grass may be a bit wet from the morning dew, but it's much nicer than sizzling in the summer sun.
