Beware of rattlesnakes within the Antelope Valley California Poppy Reserve. Many wild creatures inhabit this area of high desert and if you spot one, just quietly walk on by. Most snakes will try to avoid you, and a rattle or two is just to remind you to tread carefully. Their bite is bigger than their hiss, even rattle. Just keep alert and keep away! Maybe you could just stay on a path and not have to worry about that sound of the rattle.

In the spring be careful when walking through the desert. There are rattlesnakes, sidewinders and Mojave Green rattlesnakes that can bite. The babies don't have rattles, but they can be just as deadly.
