Bodie Mike's Barbecue: Good roadside stop

This is a nice find right on 395 in Lee Vining. They have outdoor seating and is attached to a bar that has a pool table and some arcade machines. They are open late for the area. We had the pork spare rib dish. It was good and a large portion that came with french fries.

It had some wonderful views if you sit outside of the patio. A little windy that day, but still worth stopping. Food was pretty good, cannot complain. I pretty good menu and my boys were happy with their food.

Whoa Nellie Deli: A Surprise Stop

    Pork Tenderloins
    1 more image

It is unbelievably easy to drive straight past the Mobil Gas Station sitting atop a hill above the junction of US 395 and Hwy 120. In this way, many visitors miss some of the best food on this side of the Sierra Nevada. In fact, Whoa Nellie Deli, hidden within the rest area, was such a good experience we didn't eat here just once- but three times. This is not fine dining- it's just gourmet, filling meals served in a cafeteria manner. There is no ambiance, and the dining area does not suggest anything special, but the food is always amazing. The Deli offers some superbly baked pizzas, gourmet sandwiches, and good entrees.

Favorite Dish: Whoa Nellie Deli's Pork Tenderloins aren't made to look fancy, but they are good. Instead of taking a general approach and using overly-salty sauces to flavor it, the pork tenderloins are sweetened with a type of raspberry sauce and generally served along with potato salad, pasta, or other side items.

Nicely's: A Diner from the Past

by SteveOSF Written Oct 16, 2007

    3.5 out of 5 starsHelpfulness

Nicely’s is an American diner reminiscent of decades past. It is nestled on the main drag of the small town of Lee Vining. It reminds me of the kind of place my parents took us to during family vacations so long ago. It serves breakfast, lunch, and dinner. Actually we tried all three and found each to be just fine. Good thing as there is not many other options for eating in Lee Vining. Although Nicely’s may seem to be a bit of a through back to the 1960s, it welcomes and easily feeds hungry travelers.

Favorite Dish: The hamburgers were good.

Tioga Lodge: Food with a lakeview

    by chewy3326 Written Aug 18, 2006
    Tioga Lodge

Tioga Lodge's restaurant isn't particularly good, but if you choose to sit outside, there are great lakeviews. There is tex-mex food, and some not-to-special dishes; eating here is more for the views than for the food. Most items are somewhat overpriced. I think probably the best thing I had here was their salad, which actually wasn't too bad; my entree was rather bland.

Mono Cone: Best Ice Cream Joint on Hwy 395

Typical ice cream joint. Not fancy, but who cares if it serves great ice cream. Kind of a local haunt for travelers passing by.

Bodie Mikes: This is the place for ribs!

    by sean420 Written Sep 22, 2005
    Bodie Mike's

Bodie Mikes is known for its big plates of BBQ chicken and ribs. The restaurant houses a bar as well as a deck which is a great place to sip a beer and watch the traffic go by on highway 395

We had breakfast there when we spent the night in Lee Vining. Friendle service and they made a good short stack and spinach omelet!

    Woah Nellie Deli: Pizza Place

by mcpangie Written May 27, 2004

    Woah, Nellie. There's a Deli.

I'm pretty sure the name of the small deli in here was Woah Nellie Deli. At any rate, it's the gas station on the corner of 120 and 395.

Favorite Dish: BBQ - Chicken - Pesto Pizza.... sounds wierd, but it was good.
