Combined Suggestions, Long Beach
As anyone knows our favorite thing to do when we travel is to go to the local zoos and aquairums where ever we go.
Long Beach has plenty of both to keep you entertained.
Fondest memory: A nice place to go is to the docks area as this is where the aquairum and the Queen Mary as well as a few other places of interest.
Take a stroll along Bluff Park, overlooking the harbor and the Queen Mary!
Fondest memory: The most awesome time is running down on the bike path after a winter storm and the sun is just beginning to peak out, with the wind whipping about! And then of course the sunsets!
Where do I start?! The Queen Mary is the signature landmark tourist destination for this city. Next to her is berthed a Russian submarine that is a MUST visit for anyone who has never been on a sub before. Then there's the Aquarium of the Pacific where you can PET THE SHARKS as well as several (manta?) rays and see all types of aquatic animals (my favorites were the sea otters). There's also Shoreline Village which has some great restaurants and little shops. You can take FREE shuttle bus transportation to all these locations from various stops around town.
Fondest memory: Visiting the Queen Mary and her submarine buddy and eating in the evenings outside looking out over the Marina
Visit the hang out places like 2nd Street or Pine Street both are very busy on Saturday but then again that is the best time visit too.
Fondest memory: Christmas time in Naples Island. There is a lighted boat parade and the houses really do it up nice. The local home association even has a contest for the best lighted house.
Long Beach is very nicely light up in the evenings...
Ride a bike on the beach path. This photo is myself and my buddy with Mayor Riordan of Los Angeles.
Fondest memory: Getting married on the Queen Mary. It was a real fairy tale wedding.
