Seasonal Events, Long Beach
If you live close enough, you MUST come out to Naples (a little part of Long Beach with canals) during Christmas time. About 2 weeks before Christmas, there is an amazing boat parade. All the boats are brightly decorated and you just walk around all the canals, watching them drive by. There's Christmas carollers singing on the streets and everyone who has a house on the water has a house party. You really get a sense of a close-knit Christmas camaraderie.
Fondest memory: 2nd Street on a warm Saturday afternoon with the gentle ocean breeze blowing on your hair.
Favorite thing: try to check out the Long Beach Beachfest. The Beachfest is a yearly event that takes place near the Shoreline Village, on the water. A two day festival filled with great music and food! Usually, the music ranges from jazz and blues to reggae/ska. It is a really nice way to relax during a warm June day. Remember to bring a blanket or something to sit on in the grass!! Unlike many other music festivals, it is a fairly mellow festival. Common Sense has been playing at this festival for the past several years!
Favorite thing: I loved the tree that they had at the aquarium. Just look at those jelly fish ornaments hanging from the branches.
Favorite thing: Check out the Long Beach Grand Prix! It is sponsored by Toyota and takes place every year on the 2nd weekend of April. The picture shows you part of the course that the cars race on.
