So, here's one for the travelling dog lover. Come to the world's largest dog Halloween parade, happening annually in dogged-crazed Belmont Shore. Although a gripe could be justifiably raised whether Rover really wants to be clad in a clingy and corny costume, the 12 block dogwalk is good for innocent entertainment.
In Livingston Park, hopeful canines and their zealous human companions gather and get ready for their stroll of glory (or shame, depending on how outrageous the costume!). Both are often complement each other in appearance. A good example of what one would see is a little pooch as a pea and the owner as a pod. On the contrast, be leery of a bride and groom pairing. Yikes!
The parade usually happens the weekend before Halloween- that is- if Halloween does not occur on Sat or Sun. Parking can be quite limited for the parade but get available along 2nd St, Livingston Dr, Park and Nieto Ave. Spaces especially along 2nd St get scarce anyway on weekends as it is Main St for shopping and the beach in Belmont Shore.

It's a dog's life and scene in Belmont Shore. Throughout the year, there are many dog related events, like parades exclusively for them and their human companions.
Though offcially there is no dog beach, Belmont Shore has a reserved spot just for doggies to roam near the waves, between Roycroft and Argonne (Aves). Parking is available from Ocean Ave at Bennett Ave.
So, take notice humans. Dogs rule Belmont!
People here seem to think of oil drilling as a necessary evil. So, when oil was discovered in Long Beach, the platforms were made into artificial islands, with a structure to make the rigs seem a bit less ugly. It's hard to tell just what these are, unless someone tells you.
In much of Southern California, the streets are lined with very tall palm trees on both sides of the streets and Long Beach is no exception.
The marina is a favorite place for couples to have a romantic walk and to sit and watch the sunsets.
