This place was packed inside and out. A very popular place with locals and tourist. The views of the inner harbor is pretty nice. It was a beautiful day to sit outside on the patio and just people watch. I tried one of Lagers, cannot remember which one though, but it had a good flavor. Glad I tried it out:)!
This restaurant/bar was the site for RowanGBR's going-away dinner. The food and service was excellent. Secuirity was tight and top-notch.
Only draw back, on a busy night, there can be long lines at the restroom.
It's right on the water with over 100 beers on tap (thus, the name...Yardhouse). It's a fun place to hang out after work or on the weekends if you're looking for a chill, mellow bar.
Favorite Dish: any one of the appetizers (except for the salmon spring roll) and pretty much everything on the menu. They have this great penne dish that is amazing and so is this one Mahi sandwich they have.
Location: This is the original Yardhouse. There are now a handful of them, mostly in Southern California. I've been to a number of the others, and this is by far the best one because of it's location. It's in Shoreline Village in downtown Long Beach, on the waterfront with beautiful views of the marina, lighthouse and convention center. The patio is a must-do, chill-out spot if you're visiting on a warm night. This restaurant is big, but still manages to get really crowded.
People/Atmosphere: This restaurant caters to trendy 20- to 30-somethings. It draws a relatively mixed crowd, with a decent variety of color and character. It's got more of an upscale feel to it, but without a lot of the snobbery you might expect in similar-feeling places in neighboring OC. The staff and patrons are on the attractive side, but with much mellower attitudies than comparable-looking folk to the south. During the prime hours the restaurant and bar bustle with activity; it's standing room only at the bar top. It's a very social environment. You can meet people there, but it's not a meat market.
Food: The restaurant is known for its huge selection of beers on tap. They have almost every kind that you can imagine (over 100 of them). It's unbelieveable! But their Asian-fusion style food is also delicious. This particular restaurant is one of my favorites in Southern California.
Favorite Dish: The fried calamari, seared ahi, and garlic noodles are great! Also, try the Youngberry Chocolate (Young's Chocolate Stout with Framboise) off the drink menu, but ask them to go light on the Framboise.
The Yard House is a chain although the Long Beach location is the only one I have been to. The food is tasty, although I think most suspect most people go for the yards of beer. Beer comes in yards, half yards, or regular sizes. Most people order lighter beers in the yard version, but a friend of mine had a yard of Guiness...we couldn't believe he finished it. If you are not a fan of beer, you can get cider in a yard/half yard as well. And if those aren't your fancy, they have a fully stocked bar as well. Even if you are not a drinker, the atmosphere is really laid back and fun and it is fun to watch your friends attempt to finish their huge drinks. If you like beer, then definitely check out this place, there are a ton of beers on tap.
Favorite Dish: I had their spicy chicken breast sandwich and it was very tasty. I also had a virgin strawberry daquiri that was mighty fruity and fun. I can't remember what my friends ate but I know that aside from the yard of guiness, another of my friends had a half yard of pear cider and he loved it.
I love the Yard House for happy hour! You can't beat the 1/2 price appetizers (which are big enough to be a meal on their own), the great drink prices, and the nice view of the water off the back deck. Happy hour ends at 6 PM so be sure to get there early. My husband and I often order 3 appetizers to split and walk away quite full (I love the Poke Stack). The food and service are always quite good here and it's a nice place to unwind. The menu has enough offerings to make everyone happy -- from asian fusion to pizza to steak.
The Yard house in Long Beach is one of my favorite places to hang out. I love to come in the early afternoon, get a table outside facing all the boats, people watching and sipping on a cold beer. The Yard House also boasts 150 beers on tap at their bar! The restaurant area of the Yard House features good food, and not just sea food.
Some summer afternoons their might be a long wait to get a table but you can always just slip into the bar.
One of my favorite Long Beach experiences is to sit outside and enjoy a sunset meal here.
You can actually sit outside anytime! They'll bring out heat lamps when the nights start turning cold. I had to struggle with their horrible wine list while my boyfriend was spoiled with their 100+ beers on tap! As far as the food goes, everything is excellent.
PS: Reservations strongly recommended.

Located on the Long Beach shore (with a wonderful view to boot), one can enjoy an eclectic menu of American Fusion cuisine while tapping into one of the world’s largest selection of draft beers. This place is really hopping and can take a long time to get in because there are so many people, but I can guarantee you'll have a wonderful time. Please note that parking can be a royal pain in the butt!!!
This was another wonderful event put together by jenn_d...I think she should go into the event planning business :-) It was a happy yet sad VT Meeting as we were able to get together with friends, but we are also losing a fellow member to the east coast. VT members who attended include: Gerry, giampiero6, jenn_d (the hostess), lauriejeanne, RowanGBR (the guest of honor), soulanjoli (and friend), spartan, Stephanie, Tilman and Yubert.
Favorite Dish: Yikes...where do I begin. Well to start off, as the name implies this restaurant has the largest selection of draft beer...we have tried the Lost Coast Apricot Wheat, Black Dog Monterey Lager, Kona Brewing Longboard Lager, Gøsser Dark & Mad River Jamaica Red Ale...all excellent drafts!!!
For an appetizer, the group ordered Chicken Lettuce Wraps (stir-fried ground chicken, smoked tofu & pine nuts in sesame soy glaze) enveloped in a fried tortilla with 3 different sauces to choose from.
For dinner, we've had the Crab Cake Hoagie (with fresh avocado, swiss cheese, applewood bacon, spicy aioli, french fries and ranch dressing on the side), Lobster Garlic Noodles (with garlic, lobster, shrimp, crab, fresh spinach & shiitake mushrooms), Jerk Chicken with Shrimp Stack (Jamaican spiced grilled chicken breast with mango zucchini salsa, shrimp enchilada with jack cheese, corn, pasilla peppers, tomatillo & red chili sauce) as well as the Mac & Cheese 2 (roasted chicken breast, applewood smoked bacon, wild mushrooms, cheddar & parmesan cheese with castellane pasta and white truffle oil).
And of course the evening wouldn't be complete without dessert, so we split the Macadamia Cheese Cake (topped with macadamia nuts and caramel sauce and strawberry sauce drizzled on the plate).
THE spot during the Long Beach Grand Prix.
Dock your boat here or cross your fingers and hope tomeet a kindly skipper.
I visit the YH most often in the summer.
Favorite Dish: Thai Lobster Pasta...
