Mix in with the locals here. Every Friday, there is a certified Farmer's Market and shopping market downtown, now at 4th and North Waite Court/Promenade (was previously by 1st St and Pine Ave). Besides shopping for exotic fruits and vegetables, one can find great deals on items like handbags, apparel, and various trinkets. Also, instead of just munching on an apple, one can get full on various ethnic foods like a Greek gyro or Mexican tamale.
As for shopping, there are very affordable options, including a $1 and $3 womens accessories boots and typical CA sounvenir-oriented selling 3 for $10 T-shirts and like. Beware of some fakes esp with jewelry and purses if you are into buying quality brands.
Note: There are two hours of FREE parking in any of the three CityPlace parking structures nearby.
