    Dirty Beaches continued...

The mouth of San Gabriel River meets with the Pacific Ocean and brings with it trash from 35 miles. I have stumbled upon some rather disgusting items which I will leave to your imagination.

Local school children and environmental groups organize beach clean ups but the real problem is farther upstream.

Unique Suggestions: Wear shoes in the water and shower soon after.

Believe it or not the beaches in Long Beach are rather undesireable. Their close proximity to the Port of Long Beach combined with the run-off from the LA River have caused the water and beaches here to be dirtier than most. For cleaner water and an attractive beach crowd head directly South to neighboring Seal Beach or about 9 miles south to Huntington Beach(AKA-Surf City).Either that or stick to Bayshore and Mother's Beaches.
