    As with many cities, parking is prime. Long Beach is trying to provide plenty of parking for all visitors. This parking structure was near the Long Beach Aquarium. What was nice that day is they had someone controlling the traffic so people could cross the road safely to the aquarium.

    By Car : The city can be reached from several major freeways. The San Diego (I-405) and the Pacific Coast Highway (Hwy 1) pass through Long Beach. The Long Beach Freeway (I-710 take you directly into downtown.

    By Rail : The Metro Blue Line operates between Los Angeles and downtown Long Beach.

    By Plane: Long Beach Airport is just 10 minutes from downtown and is serviced by Alliegiant Air, American Airlines and America West.

    Since you will likely have a car if you are visiting the Los Angeles area, Long Beach can be reached via 710 south, check a map to see what the best freeway is to get to 710 from where you are staying.

    A BAD place to fix your car

    I think that LONG BEACH TRANSIT is great! However, if you are driving and your car breaks down, well CALL ME before you take it somewhere to be fixed. WHY? As moderator of a local eNewsletter, I get many TIPS where NOT to take your car for service. I don't want the liability of naming this place on line, but I'll give you a hint: The name of the automotive service begins with initials!

    Back to the Bus: The PASSPORT Bus is cool, and takes you to alot of the "prime" destinations,: tourist spots and 2nd street in Belmont Shore!

    Come down the 110 freeway towards San Pedro and cross the Terminal Island brige. You get this great view of the ports of LA and Long Beach and all of down town Long Beach. At night it is really breathtaking. Another neat way is taking the 'Blue Line' train from LA. It is the Metro for LA.
    Water taxi in the harbor and the red bus around downtown.

    Drive....the 710S or the would depend on where you're coming from.
    Either the bus (the 'Passport' - look for the red bus stops with a sea gull on it) or your own car or walking. You can right click on the Passport Route Map below and click on 'open link' to enlarge it so it's readable.

    From Los Angeles:
    Take the 405 Freeway south to the 710 Freeway south;
    Follow the signs to downtown Long Beach.
