Pinot: Nothing remarkable

For our aniversary we decided to find some good French food before watching a play in Hollywood. The 3 moderately-expensive restaurants listed in Zagat for the area was Luques, Pinot and another place I don't remember. Pinot is the only restaurant which would open at 5pm, and so that was why we went there.

The place was nice. The service was OK (we must have a new waiter or something for he didn't know much about the details of how the dish was prepared). The food was listed in Zagat as French (bistro), but what we saw there in the menu was a limited offering of a few French dishes and mostly Californians (we asked for French Onion soup, but they don't have them, same for Escargo, or any Shrimp dishes)...

Favorite Dish: I ordered Linguine with Baby Scallop for $17 and liked it a lot. Jenney ordered the Hawaiian Roasted Salmon for $23 and hated it. (She is a good cook, so she complained that they leave the skin on the fish, they didn't really roast the fish but seared it in butter, which leave a bad after taste of the fish). I ended up eating her salmon.

As first time customers at Pinot with bad experience (with just one Salmon dish), we would probably won't come back. Poor Mr. Pinot!
