 | Los Angeles Other Shops Reviews | Tips 1 - 10 of 29 | | This is a huge warehouse style electronics shop that most likely will have what you want. In some ways the hugeness is overwhelming and you may not be able to find that little piece you need. However there are staff everywhere , not always helpful and friendly, but you do get there in the end. Just don't go to Fry's if you are in a hurry!
Well, you can build your own computer with components, or buy some wonderful software packages, almost anything. I wanted memory and battery for my digital camera. Both the items I wanted were not on display, but after asking I discovered they were locked away, and it was certainly necessary to ask! After some time looking around at the amazing array of stuff, I managed to get what I was after and leave. Fry's is a wonderful experience if you are in the right frame of mind.
Cheaper than most around. The best deal! Amoeba Music is an enormous music store located in the revamped Sunset and Vine area, next to the Cineramadome and Arclight Theatre. This may be the largest music store you'll ever see. It looks like an airport hanger (a two story airport hanger!)... and every inch is filled with CDs, tapes, records, DVDs, videos, posters, collectibles and all sorts of other great stuff. Amoeba sells both new and used music and DVDs. Come in with an idea of what you'd like to buy, because starting blind is competely overwhelming. There is SO MUCH music here. You'll find everything from rock, hip hop and electronica to jazz and classical. If you're interested in seeing some live music while you're in L.A., you'll find tons of fliers from local bands plastered on the walls near the entry. You can sell your used CDs and DVDs here, as well. The store is open Mon-Sat 10:30-11 and Sunday 11-9. France Vision is a great place to get any type of eyewear. Whether it's perscriptions you need or cool shades, they've got it all. My family has been going to this place for years and the prices are unbeatable...however, to get the special treatment you must ask for Hudson Lee he is our "special" salesperson and he is the ONLY one I purchase from. The store is located in Koreatown, which makes it even more special...so if you want a taste of some different culture there are alot of good Korean restaurants around.

This area (3rd street promenade) has alot of upscale shopping but i could go to a nice mall in my area and see all these shops . It depends what your looking for and where you live . No unusual shops . It's nice looking in the sense that it's all outside. On a nice day , I suggest maybe combining this with the pier and Venice since it's close by.I like the surrounding areas better for shopping especially Fred Siegal 's place . It's expensive though but worth a trip inside. (it's on Broadway) Leave a Comment Theme: OtherDirections: Santa Monica

American Apparel is an L.A. based company that does not use sweatshops. They make basic clothing items - tank tops, t-shirts, sweatshirts/pants, underwear, casual dresses etc - and some specialty stuff like baby clothes and dog sweaters. Anyway, the store is a great place to buy basic clothing items in any number of different colors. This place is also great if you want a blank piece of clothing to silkscreen onto. They have men's clothes as well.
basic stuff
because the clothes are not made in sweatshops, the prices are a little bit higher than target or walmart. But consider it a small price to pay to support an ethical business. Leave a Comment

I visited this shop after hearing so much hype about it. Yes, it is a bit interesting with it's many boutiques within the store, *but*, what people don't tell you is that the sales people are the absolute rudest ever!!! I spent a total of (15) minutes in the store and left.... the nicest thing about the place was the security guard out front! LOL! Anyways, I spent quite a bit in the Malibu Country Mart shops instead. The people there were very nice and helpful. Shame on you, Fred Segal! I may not have been a celebrity, *but* I had alot of money to spend!
Extremely pricey for what is offered. Leave a Comment Theme: Women's ClothesAddress: Melrose and Crescent Heights, HollywoodPhone: (813) 340-5363Directions: Melrose Avenue area

Once you get a whiff of the freshly baked bread at La Brea, you can't help but to stop in here. La Brea Bakery is famous not just in district or citywide, but throughout southern California. The original location in the Mid-Wilshire area off of Wilshire and La Brea. The all-natural, artisan bread from the neighborhood shop has reached such popularity that it is now featured in several groceries in SoCal. Made with undeniable great flavor, La Brea bread is a taste of L.A not to be missed. Besides bread, there is an assortment of pastries, pastas, pasta sauces from which to choose, as well as a full scale restaurant, called Campanile right next door. Both the bakery and restaurant are a bit pricey but if you don't mind to splurge a little, go for it.
loaves of bread are about $3-$4, bakery treats average $2-$4, specialty pasta about $5 + Leave a Comment

If you are a bead junkie like I am the bead shops near the jewelry district in LA are a slice of heaven. The textile stores in the area are as well. Woo hoo! Can hardly wait to go back! Go wander around east 8th Street. If fabric, trim, and beads are your thing you are sure to be impressed.

Jewelry District located in 4th street, downtown. Parking is quite expensive in this area as parking is usually in structured bldg. Averaging $9 per hour. There are many jewelry stores - from loose diamonds to pearls, even FAKE WATCHEs, gold, plat... Of course there are authentc watches on display but you have to ask for the imitations since these are not on display. Cartier, a good one, can cost around $80. Rolexes, around $120 - Japan movements. Swiss movements are around $400.
