Really top class neighborhood. The shops were so frightening, that even Fernanda decided to stay out of them. Honestly, she did!
Fortunately, they didn't charge for looking from outside, and I escaped without financial blessings. But it really worth the trip, admiring the perfection, cleanliness, and safety of everything.
Life would be perfect, with such quality at Portuguese prices.
Home to the rich and famous, Beverly Hills is an independent city within Los Angeles County. It is surrounded by the City of Los Angeles and West Hollywood. The centre of the Beverly Hills, in the area surrounding Rodeo Drive, is an upscale business district with great restaurants and shopping, albeit the most expensive in LA County. North and south of the business district are beautiful residential neighbourhoods, but the area furthest north has the largest mansions and estates where many of the Hollywood movie stars live. Although it has a reputation for being a snobby neighbourhood with more plastic surgery than is considered normal, Beverly Hills is undeniably beautiful and spending time here, whether or not one has the money to spare, is a rather pleasant experience. On Sunset Boulevard is the famous and infamous Beverly Hotel (see photos).
Top things to see & do:
1- Rodeo Drive and the surrounding shopping district;
2- Mansions of the rich and famous of Beverly Hills;
3- The Beverly Hills Hotel;
4- Greystone Mansion.
My wife and I celebrated our 25th wedding anniversary last week. We hired a limo from Alexis Limo to take us to dinner at Spago's in Beverly Hills. The driver was so professional. He gave us his business card so we could call him when we finished eating dinner. He was right in front of the restaurant waiting for us when we were done. We've never used this company before but we've already decided that we will again.
Beverly Hills is a city situated near Los Angeles that become famous because a lot of actors and actresses have their houses here. If you have a good tourist guide you can find more of their nice houses!!!! If you have a lot of money to spend or if you want to see very good think you must go to Rodeo Road.
Technically, Beverly Hills is not Part of los angeles city but is part of the Greater LA County. Besides being the setting of the phnomenal Pretty Woman, and Eddie Murphy's Beverly Hills Cop, it is still the best place to relive the '80s credo, Greed is good and glam is fame! collection of designer tenants that would make Jennifer Lopez weak in the knees, Rodeo's stately drive still draws gawkers and Benz-driving bigwigs. Beverly Hills contains some of the largest homes in Los Angeles County and the nation. These homes range from the extravagant and luxurious in size, to the more elegant and modern homes, and then to the many small duplex rental units and detached homes with less than 3,000 square feet. So this Glam Capital is really a City of Contrast!
On the corner of N Beverly Dr and Sunset Blvd there is Will Rogers Park. A regular park I guees that we happened to visit cuz we wanted to sit a bit in the sun and saw a park when driving by. Right here we met a man walking his dog who was eager to tell us some stories about the locals. So he told us that a public bathroom in that park was the one where George Michael was cought in the act.
Apart from that, there are some beautiful flowers, palm trees and araukarias in the park :)
Driving through Beverly Hills you'll be able to see some of its great mansions and also some very regular houses. Not every Beverly Hills house is a luxurious villa but it all looks very clean and quite decent. And the high palm trees and highly fragrant flowers make the area very pleasant.
It is fun to drive aimless around Beverly Hills. There are many beautiful mansions and you never know who you may see. Otherwise, you can buy a map of who stay where and start to try to find those homes where the stars are probably at work or staying in their other homes at other locations.
Anywhere there is a feel of Hollywood in the air. Just as the day when TV series Beverly "Hillbillies" who struck oil and roll into town.
The Beverly Hills Hotel is a legend in Los Angeles and it really deserves a visit, even if you aren't staying there. You can go for a drink like I did and have a very nice afternoon or evening at the bar of the hotel.
By the time w were there the weather was gorgeous so we had a wonderful "margarita" in the outdoor of the Polo Lounge Bar. It's beautiful, surrounded by flowers everywhere, with a very nice and romantic atmosphere. They usually play jazz music in the afternoons. The hotel is awsome and the gardens very manicured and well cared. Service at the bar was superb!
Beverly Hills is the upscale part of Los Angeles where you will find the great mansions and star houses. Though your won't see much as the mansions are usually very well protected against people's eyes, with high fences and gates, no one can go to Los Angeles without driving around that area.
Maybe you will be lucky and spot some star coming in or out of his/her house!
