You can just smell the money!

    by IslandGirl10 Updated Apr 12, 2005 102 reviews

Riding through Beverly Hills was quite the experience. It was a little different that I expected, but I think because television and movies tend to make it larger than life, when you actually see and drive through it you are a little surprised. I think I was expecting something really big and actually it really wasn't all that, but it was very nice. Expect a lot of traffic on Rodeo Drive and through Beverly Hills as far as the neighborhood. Many amazing vehicles and you might see a famous face or two. Fun to see, but surprising :p

Of course you have to take a drive thru Beverly Hills. This is the most perfect neigbourhood I have ever seen. Everything in perfect harmony, beautifull houses, people jogging on the sidewalks (not a lot though, it's LA), perfect lawns. Definitely a nice experience.

LA tour of the stars homes

I would really recommend doing a tour of the stars homes while in Los Angeles. It's worth the money. It's costs approx $100. You can pick up a leaflet about this called LA tours at any hotel. The stars homes you can see are Jack Nicolson, Jennifer Lopez, Matt Le Blanc, Aaron Spelling, jackie Chan, Jennifer Garner and many many more!

    Beverly Hills sign

While in Los Angeles, you should drive through the opulent neighbourhoods of Beverly Hills. Drive down Wilshire and Santa Monica Blvds. Walk along the famous and filthy rich Rodeo Drive. Stop in at the Museum of Television and Radio for a private screening of classic episodes of your alltime favourite childhood tv shows. The library has quite a selection to choose from. Admission is free, but a donation is suggested. The Museum is located at 465 N. Beverly Drive at Little Santa Monica Blvd.

    Beverly Hills Hotel power breakfasts

by jglsongs Written Mar 14, 2004 358 reviews
Beverly Hills Hotel from Sunset Blvd.

The Beverly Hills Hotel is the bastion of luxury along Sunset Blvd....I assume, since I, like millions of others, can't afford the Beverly Hills Hotel! Unless my financial picture radically changes, I won't be wintering in one of those pink bungaloes and taking breakfast by the poolside with Hollywood's movers and shakers.

On the other hand, I, as well as millions of other moderate middle-class citizens CAN have breakfast in the Polo Lounge (as long you don't wear shorts and sandals). It's not cheap, but it's a lot cheaper if you eat like the native Hollywood set...coffee and something light and healthy. If you order French Toast or an omelette and lots of pork in whatever form - you miss the point.

The other myth: don't page yourself. That was always a ploy in the 1980's to have yourself paged at the Polo Lounge at breakfasttime. Now, it's one of those old tricks that only stupid actors and megalomaniacs play; if Coppola and Redford are having a power breakfast, they won't even look up if your name is paged.

    Beverly Hills

There are several areas of Beverly Hills that are worth exploring: My favorite place to spend time is the shopping area around Beverly Dr. and Rodeo Dr. There is ample, free (for 2 hours) parking in nearby garages, so you’re free to wander the area on foot. Beverly Dr., both north and south of Wilshire Bl., has a series of great shops and restaurants. You’ll find Pottery Barn, Victoria’s Secret, Williams Sonoma, Anthropologie and several familiar retail stores. In addition, there are more unique places like XIV Carats and Auntie Barbara’s Antiques. I recommend a number of restaurants on Beverly Dr: French Country Café, Il Fornaio, The Farm and Chin Chin are all fantastic. Afterward, stop by Coffee Bean and Tea Leaf for an ice blended. The shops on Rodeo Bl. are more for window-shopping. Ogle the goods at Cartier, Tiffany & Co., Harry Winston, Prada and Gucci. Be sure to walk through the little plaza at 2 Rodeo (above Tiffany’s). The McCormick & Schmick’s restaurant there is really delicious and a great place to sit outside and people-watch.

Across from Rodeo Dr, check out the gorgeous Regent Beverly Wilshire Hotel (which you’ll recognize from the movie “Pretty Woman”). Walk a little further west and you’ll run into Barney’s New York (home to the excellent restaurant Barney Greengrass) and Saks Fifth Avenue (where Winona Ryder was arrested for shoplifting). Further west still, you’ll find Bridal Images, an elegant bridal salon and finally, at the corner of Wilshire and Santa Monica Blvd., CAA (the talent agency that represents many of the most famous actors in Hollywood). Check out the enormous Lichtenstein painting in the lobby.

For a good photo op, you’ll find the “Welcome to Beverly Hills” sign at the intersection of Santa Monica Bl. and Doheny. Continue west on Santa Monica Bl. and you’ll see the lovely Beverly Hills Presbyterian and Church of the Good Shepherd (where many notables attend church and where Frank Sinatra’s funeral was recently held).
