Griffith Park is HUGE! Over 4,000 acres of picnic area, hiking, zoo, equestrian center, the Observatory, pony rides, Merry-go-round, bicycle rental, etc.

My sister lived just a few minutes from Griffith Park, so we decided to walk. We had to walk uphill and so the trek was a bit strenous on foot but worth it.

Quite a nice-looking building architecturally, here's the view as you walk/drive up from the gate, after a long, winding roadway through miles of park.

Griffith Park is a long winding drive into the hills in East LA. There is an obsoervatory at the top with great views of LA. Also trails for hiking.

The landmark Observatory (Tues–Fri 2–10pm, Sat & Sun 12.30–10pm; free) here has been seen in innumerable Hollywood films. It is also a great place to view the skyline of down town Los Angeles.
