The best time to go to Magic Mountain is in the summer when the park is open during the week. The crowds are not as big so you can make it though more of the rides. If you plan to go on the weekend be prepared to wait usually about 2 hrs per ride. I went one weekend and I was there for about 10 hrs and I only got on 4 of the big roller coasters. It was a waste if you ask me.
A word of warning. In the summer the weather is extremely hot in Valencia. The temperatures are often over 100oF. The park does mist the line up very well (which Disneyland does not do) but still. Bring lots of water to drink. You don't wan tto be paying $2 a bottle for water all day.
Other wise this is a fun place to go for older kids. I personally like Six Flags betyter then Disneyland.
Tip: Bring a can of Coca-Cola to the park. They often have 2 for 1 specials if you present a can of coke.

We spent a day here and it was brilliant. The park itself is pretty big with lots of good rides. We arrived early and the que's were pretty small so we headed to the big attractions first eg Goliath and superman. These rides are up there with anything in the world and anyone who enjoys themeparks will love this. later on in the day the waitning time increased but it wasn't that bad.
The only downside we found in the park was places to eat. There wasn't much options and when we went to a buffet it was terrible but that was the only downside.

Definitely a MUST if you are a lover of amusement parks, thrill-rides, or just want to have a fun-filled day. There are plenty of rides - our personal favorites include Scream and Deja Vu. We still haven't made it onto Goliath - due to Eve's fear of heights. This is probably the steepest rollercoaster we have ever encountered; simply crazy.
The not-so-good and the ugly:
- Lines can be crazy, especially on the weekends in summer. Some of the lines have 2 hours or more wait-time, so either buy a multiple-day pass, or chose in advance which of the rides you absolutely must do.
- Heat! It gets hot out there in Valencia, and cool at night. Wear layers of clothing and something to protect your head from the sun.
- Do the "wet" rides first or you'll freeze your butt off. In some of them you get soaked.
- Food is a bit on the pricey side (as in all amusement parks) - if you're frugal bring a snack and leave it in the car. Just be aware that it might get warm.
- Carrying big bags might not be a good idea. You can't take them onto the rides and would have to leave them behind - risk of theft. Fanny-packs might be the best option.
Operating hours are somewhere from 10am to 10pm, depending on the time of the year - check the website.

I have been visiting Six Flags Magic Mountain for 13 years. However, over the last few years the park went downhill. Somehow the current management seems to have strange priorities. Instead of keeping people happy and making them return, they rip and *** people of. The last few times I have been there, about half of their roller-coasters have been down: either due to technical problems or for maintenance. What makes matters even worse is, that the rest of the rides aren’t operating at full capacity. Therefore wait times often are 2 – 3 hours. In my opinion the current management is completely incompetent and should be fired immediately! It isn’t worth going to Six Flags Magic Mountain any more!!!

If you like coasters then this is the place for you. Most the the rides are newer coasters that will spin you every direction imaginable. They have everything from stand up coasters to the old wooden sit down rides. Try to avoid this place in the summer when the temperature can get into the 100's and the lines can be long.

Took a bit of a gamble coming here, as no-one in the UK had heard of it. During the journey there I realised why. As one mountain range after another came and went, and we had barely 1/4 tank of fuel left, I did start to panic that the directions had given us a bum steer. Sure enough though, just as I visualised breaking down in 'Deliverance' County, the Magic Mountain sign appeared
Basically just roller coasters - this is the full range, from wooden Coney Island style, through to stand-up / harness multi-loop & turn creations. Don't expect the clean glitz and sharp efficient style of Disney though, as the whole place looks a bit run down and shabby. Rides have very little thought or theming to them (NB compared to the fantastic Revenge of The Mummy @ Universal we had abused silly a few days earlier)
Once inside you can buy Front Of Line passes, but these are only valid for certain rides (that change daily). Don't get too exicted, the muppets that work here don't understand them and make you queue anyway when you get "to the front"
Advice -
Only buy the FOL tickets if queues get bad during the day
Seems to be no height / age restriction on the rides. Kids all over the place. Good / bad ? U decide
Start the day at the furthest ride and work round in a clockwise direction. Like sheep, everyone (inc us) went on the nearest rides first. These were empty at the end of the day
Don't even bother going on a busy day in peak season. Some of the rides (eg Superman) weren't even worth the 15min spent in the queue on the day we went. Signs up for 2 hour waits on busy days
The rapids ride is the most extreme splash ride ever. No exaggeration to say several bath loads of water were thrown into the dingy every 30 secs. Expect to get slightly moist. OOOooo, Matron !
An empty can of coke gets you one free admission (with each paying guest) CLICK HERE FOR DETAILS
Had a great time and would love to go back to try the water park next door

This place is like a dream for me....I love rollercoasters (specially the extreme ones), and here you have maybe 10-15 toprollercoasters that would be a main attraction in almost any other park in the world. No kidding, it's crazy! I was there for maybe 10 hours, and that was barely enough to go through them all. Some rollercoasters like the "X" had a very long line, but also the "Superman- the Escape". But both of them though, were worth waiting for, specially the "X". Have in mind also that this park is actually located quite a long drive outside Los Angeles, in the city of Valencia.

If you like roller coasters this is your place. Magic Mountain (located on Valencia) has the best roller coasters in the world and is definitely worth a visit. My personal favourite is called X and its the first 4-D coaster on the world.

If you are tired of Disney's kiddie rides or Universal Studio's lack of coasters... just an hour or less north of LA is Six Flags. Featuring 16 coasters with a wide variety, it should fulfill every coaster fan's ultimate fantasy. If you go in the summer, expect long lines and wait times of up to two hours for the big rides. Best time to go is in the fall... it doesn't really rain that much in SoCal and the crowds are considerably less. Don't forget to buy yourself a funnel cake at the end of the day!
