    Universal City Walk

Universal City Walk is the area just outside the Universal Studios park, so you don’t have to pay any fee to stroll around here. Many people come in the night (or just after their tour in the park) because there are a lot of cinemas, restaurants and stores many of them with movie themes and stuff. A local friend of us that he likes to come here sometimes without having to get into the park too so it’s not made just as a tourist trap :)

The atmosphere is lively, with many many lights, not my cup of tea but very typical in LA, yes it is as kitch as it gets (giant guitars, figures and huge screens playing videos non stop) but we enjoyed the vibes here. During the morning is more peaceful though with less neon lights but more eye candy because of the colors. It is open daily 11.00-21.00 (fri-sat till 23.00)

The Day View of the Universal City Walk is more colorful (but hot n humid too!) than the night view and again, This City Walk is home to more than a dozen restaurants, over two dozen retail shops and an 18-screen movie theater. Located outside the theme park's gates, it's accessible to anyone without buying a ticket (but who goes to Universal Studios without going inside? right, so you must buy the ticket to go inside the studios). Again the day view is more colorful but this place vibrates with neon energy in the evening and at night.

    CityWalk Hours:

My first time to go to Universal Studios in 1989, the City walk was non-existent then and in 2005, at my latest trip to LA, I was surprised at seeing a long area of bars, restaurants and kitsch at the Unversal Studios Entrance. The Universal City Walk is a glittery mall with one-of-a-kind shops, a neon art museum and an 18-screen cinema. There is a large steel-web canopy with a leaping fountain below, created by WET. A huge television monitor brought in by Panasonic, is located above the multiplex, showing upcoming Universal movie releases, music videos, and NBC Universal promotions stands next to the giant guitar towering over the Hard Rock Cafe.

Admission is free but there is a parking fee.

    Open Hours:

    Sun-Thurs 11:00 AM - 9:00 PM
    Fri-Sat 11:00 AM - 11:00 PM

If you don't go to Universal Studios, you must at least visit Universal City Walk. The most it will cost you is about $10 for parking for your entire family. But do plan on having a meal or if you have time to see a movie, it is worth looking into watching a movie on the gigantic IMAX screen. Lots of restaurants to choose from. One of my favorites is Wolfgang Puck's. The food is always good and reasonably priced. The food at the Hard Rock Cafe is also always very good. I enjoy collecting pins from Hard Rock Cafes all around the world. You might want to do the same. You can easily spend a great deal of money here with all the different themed stores.

If you are in LA you must go to City Walk. Great places to eat, drink, shop and dance. Everything you want is within reach. For food I suggest Tu Tu Tango, with its sit and share style food and various paintings and other forms of art everywhere (many items for sale) makes for a wonderful time. I really love the Pez store...so many kinds of dispensers soo little time. Then there is the black light store, my fave, where you can get anything that glows in black light from mouth pieces to nail polish to crazy hats. Its pure fun! Lets not forget about dippin~dots, nuff said. This place is family friendly but after 10pm if you are not with your parents you have to vacate. But feel free to check out a movie with the kiddies at the movie plex on the grounds. For everyone else check out some of the many clubs/lounges scattered through out City walk. Rumba Room, B.B. King's Blues Club, Jillians just to name a few. They have a free shuttle to City Walk near the metro stop ( metro takes you right there, one of the last stops..its very easy) Dont for get that the metro and shuttle stop running at diffrent times so work out taxi money if your going to clubbing for many hours(dont drink your money home, all away).

I looved this place, it sits next universal studios and caters for pretty much everyone. It houses a multiplex, plenty of shops, restaurants for all ages and prices.
It is pure eye candy and I went during the day, it would probably blind you at night . There is so much going on and was dissapointed I only got to spend an hour there as I was on a tour.
It could easily be a tourist trap and it probably is but its look and feel makes it a good one.
Foret the hard rock cafe, go to the more smaller food outlets for something different

    Universal Studios City Walk

by Blatherwick Written Oct 4, 2005

The Universal Studios City Walk is free to go to and is a good place to spend some time. There are plenty of cool shops that have a movie theme and sell movie stuff. It has tons of the well known restaurants, some nightlife, an amphitheatre, virtual racing, and a huge movie multiplex. It's much like Downtown Disney.

    Universal Studios

Take a walk at Universal City Walk, part of the Universal Studios complex. It's got that "Artificial Main Street" feel that we Americans do so well. Lots of fun for the kids-they'll love the games and other entertainment, including a fountain where they can "dance around" the water as it shoots up. Hey, if it gets hot enough, I may try it myself!

Universal City Walk has many name restaurants, a few shops, some nightlife and, yea, a big movie multiplex. It's the place to chill out after a day at Universal Studios...though it can get a little crowded on the weekends.

The Universal Citywalk, next to the Universal Studio Entrance is a small "city in the city". With many coloured shops and City Loft food complex it's an excellent experience for the L.A. visitor.

    Parking lots available !

    Universal studios citywalk at night.

At this street you can shop a lot of Hollywood souvenirs. It is a part of Universal studios but it is free to walk on this street. I like the lights here at night. More fun at night than in the daytime.
