I'm not a shopaholic, at home or on vacation, and I think spending a $1,000 or more on a purse just because it has interlocking Ls and Vs on it is absurd so for me Rodeo Drive (pronounced ro-DAY-o) is a perfect example of a tourist trap. Overpriced shops, window shopping tourists sniffing out celebrities, celebrities with oversized sunglasses pretending they don't want to be recognized, haughty salesclerks, really, it's pretty close to my idea of h*ll

Fun Alternatives: Give me your money ;-)

    NOT WORTH IT!!!

by janders Updated Jul 2, 2004 25 reviews

There is no need to get out of your car to see Beverly Hills, unless you make millions of $$. This city is not worth no more then 10 minutes.

Unique Suggestions: If you must get out and window shop and you are parked at a meter. Make sure you fill that meter to the max. Also make note of what type of meter you are parked at. Because BH police love to give parking fines. How do you think the police get there Mercedes-Benz and Chevy Suburbans police cars. If you need more film, go to the Rite Aid. Atlease you won't pay $10 for one roll of film. BH streets are the worst desiged steets in L.A. so bring a map. if you get hungry for some fast food. FORGET IT. Beverly Hills does not let ANY fast food places in there city limits. If you want to eat, you're going to pay 13.00 dollars for a hamburger, no fries or Coke.

Fun Alternatives: If you want to see expensive shops, go to Hollywood & Highland. Or better yet go to
Santa Monicas 3rd Street Promenade. Easy parking and many different shops, food, entertainment.

Rodeo Drive was interesting to see, but those who shop here appear to have more money than sense... Lots of designer names, of course, so you might find something to your liking. Don't expect to find any bargains though!

Rodeo Drive. Well maybe not a tourist trap but I'm not so much into shopping and this place just kind of made me feel icky with all the consumerism gone mad, not to get too preachy or anything. It's just not my cup of tea, but it is kind of cool to walk around this place you've only seen in Beverly Hills 90210 or Pretty Woman.
