Bora Bora: Quiet local spot with fresh food
Bora Bora restaurant is a small place located on Highland Ave in Manhattan Beach. It's very easy to miss considering the sign is quite small, if at all present on the building.
There are not very many tables inside, which translates to an intimate, local setting... and if you live in Manhattan Beach [or know anything about its small community feel], you know you're likely to run into someone you know dining there as well. There's a small bar at the front with 2-3 seats if you want to have a drink while you wait.
The decor reflects the Polynesian-themed menu. My Hawaiian ono tasted like fresh, homemade barbecue with a citrusy salsa on top. The cream of red pepper soup was excellent. I highly recommend it.
We skipped dessert as the choices seemed rather standard- some apple crisp, chocolate cake.. etc.
Favorite Dish: I really enjoyed the cream of red pepper soup!
Bora Bora: Bora Bora
A tiny little place that recently opened, it is set in an ideally intimate setting. The place fits about 15 tables. Most of the seating are these booths that can easily fit 6 or more people. The decor is very minimalist and functional with very clean edges and sharp colors. As one can easily tell from the name, this restaurant specializes in Polynesian/Southern Pacific style foods. Average price for an entree:US$25. Average price for a bottle of wine:US$40-$70.
Favorite Dish: Their seared ahi in a teryaki type sauce with their pyramid of sticky rice is excellent! They have great daily specials. The chicken breast is great too.
