I love Pancho's! I've been going here since I was young. The ambience, location, and the food make it a great "beach city" Mexican Restaurant.
The bar upstairs is great for drinks and appetizers. They have a huge TV to catch sporting events.
I truly reccomend going downstairs in the dining area for a meal. They have a great assortment of plants and the atmosphere is remeniscent of a hotel patio in Cancun!
Favorite Dish: My FAVORITE dish is the 'Especial de Cabo'.
It consists of chicken mixed with sautéed shrimp and genuine crab meat, onions and tomatoes, and blended with special herbs and wine. Topped with melted cheeses, diced avocados and tomatoes. They serve it with rice. I generally ask for no cheese or onions. It saves calories and your breath :)
This dish is SO good. It's light enough to not make you feel stuffed, but the portion is so big you will be having it for lunch the next day ( or that night at 2AM, whichever). The seafood tastes fresh and the combination of flavors and spice is perfect. I really like avocados and they are generous and use quality avocados!
Located one block from the Pacific Ocean Pancho's is a beautiful Mexican restaurant. You pay premium price not so much for the food as for the place.
Try to get a table at the main dining room downstairs. It is very good-looking courtyard with small lights and small fountain.
That's not to say the food isn't good though. They have a very large menu with items you can't get from the everyday Mexican restaurants.
It does miss a little bit of the 'bite' and grease of the more authentic hole-in-the-wall restaurants, but Pancho's isn't about an everyday lunch - it's more of a special occasion restaurant.
Popular local restaurant. Has a wonderful indoor patio, which feels like you're eating outside due to all the lush plants inside. Pancho's also reminded me of being in Mexico, except they did not have a Mariachi band when I was there. I heard there's some fun Karaoke upstairs, but that wasn't going on on a Thursday night.
I even took the liberty of speaking in Spanish with our waiter (I used to live in Madrid), who was very friendly and entertaining.
Favorite Dish: I tried the lobster enchiladas, which were really great. I really enjoyed the green rice as well. The portions are quite large, so if you choose, the food can make for great leftovers. The chips and salsa, standard fare at any Mexican establishment, definitely exceeded my expectations.
They have karaoke on some of the nights and live bands on other nights. It's a great place to come for drinks, as well as for food. The margaritas are really good here. Prices usually range from US$12-$20 a plate for a main dish. Valet parking.
Latest update (Jan 2006): They also have a Sunday champagne brunch that is pretty good. Saturday nights are usually really crowded. You should definitely make reservations!
Favorite Dish: Everything and anything! They have some of the best Mexican dishes I have ever had!!! Everything from their enchiladas to their seafood specialty dishes is SUPER yum!!!! :) They have GREAT ceviche.
In Manhattan Beach you see alot of restaurants come and go within the year but Panchos has stood the test of time. I cant tell you that the food is very authentic (has been somewhat Americanized) but it is pretty good. What Pancho's is more known for is its drinks/bar/entertainment. The place gets pretty busy during happy hour. There is vallet parking here at $3.50 which is strongly recommended because parking on the street is horrible.
The bar is a nice place to hang out , catch a game, listen to music.
The restaurant section is known to cater to big groups and many of the local businesses in the South Bay will have gatherings here. The atmosphere is relaxing and comfortable. Spanish tile, iron works, and green plants everywhere. The ambiance is great.
Favorite Dish: Alot of their dishes are good but mostly I love their Strawberry margaritas.
Pancho's has been in Manhattan Beach for about 50 years! It is a fabulous mexican restaurant with an atmosphere that feels like you are outside. Great for large groups as well.
Favorite Dish: Margaritas - some of the strongest margaritas in town -and good too!
My favorite place to go is Pancho's on a Tuesday night. Have a few Margies in the bar (Beatrice is the best waitress!) and enjoy the chips and salsa. Then get ready for some Karaoke! You don't need to be a professional to go up on stage. Don't be shy, pick a song, and go perform!
Very cosy ambience which exudes a feeling of warmth. I like that :-) Food is good & company is great. What more can one ask for? :-)
Favorite Dish: Taco chips. I had sooooo much I was half full by the time my main dish was served!
I was pining for some authentic Mexican food, which cannot be found where I live, but instead we ended up at Pancho's. It's more of a margaritas and chimichangas place, but hey, the food was good anyway.
Sharrie, Travelmad and myself had dinner here. The atmosphere is muted and relaxed.
Portions are pretty big though.
And do not stuff yourself on nachos and salsa. You will not have any room for the main course.
Favorite Dish: I had the mahi-mahi wrap. Pretty god.
Great Mexican restaurant with lively atmosphere and great food. You will never leave Pancho's unsatisfied. The bar also has live entertainment most nights of the week, but after a couple of the margs, you don't need much in terms of outside entertainment!
Favorite Dish: Fajitas (either chicken, steak or shrimp) and, of course, their signature margarita.
