Thank You VT!! by lmkluque The problem is that the shop hasn't opened yet--and it may never become a shop. However, here are some pretty nice items offered to those of us who attended the Manhattan Beach VT Meeting 1-3 August 2003. VT Staff are not only kind, interesting and fun to be around, they are generous of heart as well as offering these items.

This woman, Linda or whomever she is, from VT, whatever that is, doesn't get it. She states that a tourist would probably not buy from a furniture store. We who have lived here for many years frequent these stores. This is not Laguna Beach or Newport Beach or any of the other tourist traps. This is a nice, small community that happens to be located on the ocean. We who have lived here for a long time love our wonderful local grocery store (Manhattan Grocery - especialy their meats) and furniture places. And all th other places.

Located in the heart of downtown Manhattan Beach, this store has anything and everything that you can think of when trying to buy a nice gift for someone. Whether it's a piece of jewelry or candles or vases, this store has it all! The key here is QUALITY.
The prices will range greatly, but don't expect to spend any less than $40 for a gift. Theme: GiftsDirections: Highland Ave., just north of Manhattan Beach Blvd. on the west side of the street.

I had sort of given up on shopping in the boutiques in this area of Manhattan Beach and contented myself with just walking around - mostly because I am too budget-conscious to spend too much money on something I will undoubtedly ruin the first time I wear it. I took my mother and sister there while they were in town and we wandered into Mandarine on a whim. I was so excited. The clothes were extremely cute, original, in good shape and best of all - cheap! The three of us practically ripped the store apart in our frenzy to try everything on. I have been back a few times and recently found out that they actually have two storefronts in Manhattan - so I will be checking out the second very soon!
My first trip I walked out with two shirts, two headbands and a long necklace for $70! Theme: Women's ClothesAddress: 329 Manhattan Beach Blvd or 1000 Manhattan Blvd.Phone: 310.379.9955Directions: Downtown Manhattan Beach (two locations)

Every first weekend in October is the Manhattan Beach Old Home Town Fair. You'll find vendors set up in their booths to sell their arts & crafts. You'll also find food booths, a beer garden, paid/free game booths, and musical performances including a "Battle of the Bands" segment. The fair kicks off with a 10K run on Saturday morning. Manhattan Village is a pretty small mall so if you want bigger, just 10 and 15 minutes away in neighboring cities are two bigger malls. There's the South Bay Galleria in Redondo Beach and the Del Amo Fashion Center in Torrance. Both are excellent malls, big, with a wide variety of stores. Both have great food courts too! by heryanta Bacchus is a little wine shop around the Manhattan Beach pier area. What makes this shop special is unlike your conventional wine shop where the bottles are arranged by grape and region, the owners decided to do that by taste! So what you get is very clever way of labeling the racks with things like "Bold" and "Mellow". The owners are also very friendly and patient, which is always a big help when shopping for wine!
They have a lot of decent priced good wine from California; but there is also a section for imports. I was delighted to found they still have 2000 vintage Bordeaux.
As with other wine shops you can go crazy here, but $15 will give you a decent Californian Merlot. Theme: Food and DrinkAddress: 1000 Manhattan AvenuePhone: 310-372-2021Directions: Manhattan Ave/10th St (just South of the pier)

by heryanta Manhattan Beach Village is a small but upscale mall in North Manhattan Beach, bordering El Segundo. It has several women boutiques and a Macy's. Some of the shops include Bombay, Pottery Barn, and Godiva chocolates. The mall is too small for you to use it as a place to kill half a day, but if does have nice restaurants in the complex. The restaurants there include China Grill, Chili's, Olive Garden, Islands and the best ribs in Southbay: Joey's Smoking BBQ :) Theme: Women's ClothesAddress: 3200 N Sepulveda BlvdDirections: On Sepulveda/RosecransWebsite: shopmanhattanvillage.com
