This small, modest museum houses a number of exhibits from the 20th century, mostly from the Vietnam War. It has a good collection of small arms, uniforms, and various memorabilia. It also has a number of vehicles and heavy weapons. Not a bad place to spend a few hours.
It's open the first Saturday of each month, plus Veterans' Day and Memorial Day, from 10:00 am to 4:00 pm. And it's free. It's at:
5865 A Road, in Linda (off North Beale Rd, as you approach Beale AFB)
Marysville, CA 95901
Heading east from Highway 65, follow Beale Rd through Linda. As you go past the rice paddies, look for the sign on your right, just before you arrive at the Beale AFB Main Gate.
Marysville has one of the oldest cemeteries in California, dating back to the early 1850s. It's a frequent target for vandals, since young people here have nothing else to do. Located just north of the levee, off of Highway 70, as you head north toward Oroville. The Protestant cemetery is on the right, and the Catholic one on the left.
Supposedly the smallest mountain range in the world. Let me know if you can figure out the difference between a large hill range and a small mountain range.
Anyway, this is privatized land in Sutter, about 15 miles west of Marysville (just outside Yuba City). Lots of twists, little traffic, and beautiful scenery make this a great local motorcycle ride. Careful, as there are some spots with gravel!
About 15 miles south east of Marysville is Beale AFB. It is quite large with 5 gates and 3 main sections: flight line, main base, and housing. You can see U2 spy plane pilots go through their proficiency training overhead.
