Favorite thing: Of all the peaks of Mineral King Valley, none of them are as prominent, dominating, and beautiful as the sharp Sawtooth Peak, a granite mountain that forms the crest of the Great Western Divide in the Mineral King Area. The peak is visible from everywhere around Mineral King; you can see it hiking along Cold Springs, driving the Mineral King Road, or hiking to Eagle Lake. Some of the best views of the peak are actually found near the road, where the peak is visible for much of the time once you're past Lookout Point.
Favorite thing: There are millions of good viewpoints in Mineral King- in other words, find your own. You can get a good view over the East Fork Kaweah as well as some Sierran peaks if you walk along the Mineral King Road between Cold Springs and Eagle-Mosquito Trailhead (we did this twice. Not a bad route). Plus, you really don't have to worry much about cars; at maximum, three trucks or cars will drive up the road in a 10-minute interval.
