    Three story aquarium

Favorite thing: One side of the aquarium building is a continuous 3 story aquarium. At first I didn't realize it was all the same aquarium, there is just so much to see, but when I finally caught on, I was amazed at the beauty of it.

    The Aquarium is First Rate

Favorite thing: It would be a crime to bypass the Monterey Aquarium. A world class institution. There are several different habitats including a kelp forest. The jelly fish tanks are out of this world. And who can resist the fun loving otters.

You have to visit the Monterey...

Favorite thing: You have to visit the Monterey Bay Aquarium which is the most wonderful and magical aquarium I've been to!

The exhibits are really amazing and there's even a petting pool for touching live sea creatures like the bat ray, star fish, and sea slugs.

Fondest memory: The most striking thing about Monterey is how it's so colourful and cheerful looking. We didn't have enough time to really explore it as we had spent quite a bit of time at the aquarium. My best memory would be that of touching the bat ray!

It was such an unusual feeling -- the bat ray is very gentle and will let you pet it, and it's skin is slippery and slightly slimy to the touch! What an unusual sensation!

Here's a picture of the bat rays in the petting pool.

Favorite thing: Go to the aquarium, if you have not already been, and pay the slightly pricey fee to see some amazing sea life. Have lunch on their deck and enjoy the otters.

Fondest memory: Walking down the beach searching for sand dollars is about the most fun I can imagine, especially when imagining it from my desk at work. Ahh...

Favorite thing: visit the Monterey Bay Aquarium. It was opened in 1984 and it is the most visited Aquarium in the United States. There are more than 350.000 animals which represent the natural habitat of the Monterey Bay. You can spend a whole day visiting the facilities. For me the Sea Otters exhibit is one of the most interesting at the Aquarium as well as the Outer Bay exhibit is also very impressive. The Portola Cafe offers good meals and the Aquarium shops have lovely items to buy. The most important thing is that the Monterey Bay Aquarium teaches us how important is to take care of the sea and the animals that live in.
    Location: 886 Cannery Row.

Favorite thing: visit the Monterey Bay Aquarium located at Cannery Row. Here's a glimpse at some of the largest jellyfish that I've seen and it's found inside the Outer Bay Galleries.....

    Bubba, the California Sheephead

    by meteorologist1 Updated Feb 15, 2004

Favorite thing: There are lots of interesting sea creatures at the Monterey Bay Aquarium, but this one is my favorite. His name is Bubba, a male California sheephead fish at the aquarium. I found him swimming around and then stopping by me. I couldn't resist taking a nice picture of him. I also have to say that this was the first fish I ever saw with a friendly look in his eyes. He looks so cool with that contrasting black and white color!
