Old Monterey Jail, Monterey
The old jail served as a prison for just over a century years, built in 1854 and staying open until 1956. Though small, the walls are thick and the doors quite heavy (Joe tried to lock me in).
The jail is open to the public and inside each cell is a small piece of literature from various local writers, refrencing the little jail. Next to the jail, ironically enough, is a beautiful garden where locals go for wedding pictures.
