Parks

Parks, Mountain View

matt999tye Says:  There are a great number of clean and safe parks in the area. Also, this is one place in California where you wont smell pollution. Nice simple walks down the street are great, and many things are within walking distance.

Tour the bay on your feet, Mountain View

Pkaygrier Says:  Shoreline is Mountain View's gift to the locals. So much there to do, it is a place I visit about once a week. Start with the ampitheather-- it is a beautiful, partially outdoor facility that hosts world-class entertainers. Our mild weather means that this indoor/outdoor...

Spring/Summer Hiking at Rancho San Antonio

Spring/Summer Hiking at Rancho San Antonio, Mountain View

KarinL Says:  This isn't in Mountain View, but a short 15 minute drive away. One of the most beautiful nature areas I've ever seen. Very popular and crowded with families on the weekends, mostly because they've got a small farm with animals. Even with all the people, it's still a...

La Fiesta: Mexican Food and Margaritas, Oh My!, Mountain View

Pkaygrier Says:  This place does it right. Most importantly, the margaritas are as they should be. I don't know if they even let Jose Cuevo in the door. With a hugh variety of tequilas, why consume the rotgut that most people settle for when they order this nectar? At La Fiesta, they will...

Da Kitchen: Authentic Hawaiian Food and Service

Da Kitchen: Authentic Hawaiian Food and Service, Mountain View

Mark_12 Says:  Having grown up in Hawai'i, I found that the food at Da Kitchen is as good as the food in the islands and a step above anything else I've sampled in the bay area. I guess this tip is for the folks who want an island experience but just weren't able to make it all the way to...

SGI's annual Lip Synch was the hottest ticket in town to see the hottest talent in town. Unfortunately it has been discontinued as a cost-savings move by SGI.

It's close to San Jose International Airport and about 45 minutes from San Francisco International Airport heading south bound on highway 101 or 280.
You can take the train, taxi, lightrail, or rent a car.
The bus is one of the best ways to get around, lightrail, or taxi would be you best ways to get around, bycicle would be a good way.

With Google, Sun Microsystems and a few other mighty giants in town, we are a technosavvy lot. Bring your laptop and you will find a hotspot. If you wait until the end of 2007, the whole town should be a hotspot. And most folk are more than happy to help with any techno questions you might have. After all, no one was actually BORN here. They migragrated here from other, less wired parts of the world to be in silicon heaven. Almost everyone here is their families' designated computer expert, so we are used to helping people with their questions.

If you're interested in unique architecture, I recommend checking out the headquarters of computer graphics manufacturer Silicon Graphics (SGI).
