  • Rutherford Hill Winery

Wine tasting is a given in the Napa Valley. Which wineries to visit is like picking a card out of the deck. So many, too little time, and unless you have a driver that stays sober, it can become a little intoxicating. One winery that is a must visit is hidden in the hills above the spa Auberge du Soleil in Rutherford. The Rutherford Hills Winery...

  • Good Breakfast!

We were on our way home and decided to have some breakfast before heading down the road. This turned out to be a great option. Breakfast was delicious. I ordered the California bacon eggs benedict with tomato, avocado and Hollandaise sauce. Served with fresh fruit and potatoes. I told them to leave the potatoes off. I'm trying not to eat too much...

  • Breakfast Place

When we are on vacation, we like to have breakfast. With so much information on the internet, it's easy to find our choices and what people thought (reviewed) about their experience. Unfortunately, there are more bad reviews than good reviews. This place had some good reviews so we decided to check it out. We had a very nice breakfast. I ordered...

  • Duck Burger! Do I need to say more?

Friend's of ours had lunch here on Saturday and said the duck burger was awesome. So, on Sunday, we decided to stop and have the duck burger. It comes with french fries but for a small fee you can opt to have the polenta fries instead. The polenta fries were okay. I think the burger would have been better with regular fries. But, the Chinese duck...

  • Nightlife in (Footloose) Napa?

Well, it is very well a possibility that the Napa city officials took their cue from the good old classic movie, Footloose, and modeled this Valley after it. There is virtually NO dancing allowed, as none of the bars are allowed to obtain Cabaret licensing. There are a few exceptions and restauranteurs that happen to be in good standing with...

  • Relax and enjoy

There are a few places to visit in Napa Valley to enjoy the nightlife, but for us, the best nightlife is to light a fire, grab a newly found bottle of wine, put on some nice music and just relax and chat about the day and the day ahead.

  • Non existent

One word sums up the nightlife in Napa....NONE. They roll up the streets and everyone goes home when the restaurants close. There is a little theatre but it lacks regularly scheduled events. Maybe the city planners thought everyone would have had so much wine through the day they would all be sleeping it off by the time the evening rolled...

  • Ride the Trolley in Yountville

Park your car and ride the trolley for free in Yountville. There is a large public parking area but it gets full fast. If you want to go from one end of town for wine tasting and the other end for dining, riding the trolley makes sense. You can also call them for free pick-up.

You are in the Napa Valley for wine tastings and a day of sightseeing the vineyards. The best way to do it is to go by limousine. Most of you get your olive oil from a market. I really didn't put that much thought into olive oil except that extra virgin first cold press was considered the creme de la creme. Napa Warnings and Dangers

  • CALIFORNIA IS DRY. PREVENT FOREST FIRES

Up in smoke is actually up in fire! Nothing can hurt the beauty of an area and in this area the economy, as an out of control fire. Napa Tourist Traps

  • Old Faithful Geyser

This is one of Calistoga's main tourist attractions, and the reason I put it under "tourist traps" was that I thought it to be a bit of a con. The frequency, height and duration of these bursts vary according to the time of year....

  • Packing Bottles to Return Home

If you buy some bottles of wine over the internet, save the packer. Then, bring whatever styrofoam packers you have inside the luggage. Seal the wine as well as possible just in case the cork moves. Then,...

Napa Sports & Outdoors

  • by Jeffzmd Written Jun 19, 2006

There are two major marathons in Napa. The first is the Napa Valley Marathon in March, which is also the Road Runners Club of America National marathon championship. Running mostly on Silverado Trail, it is a hilly marathon. However, the risk of bad weather is always present. This marathon is highlighted by a wonderful backpack as a entry gift as well as the winner taking home wines as prizes. The second is the Calistoga Trail Marathon, which occurs in October and is a trail run, with lots of steep hills. The run is mostly in the hills and very few spectators are present. Both are great events with excellent organization. What better to say you've done Napa Valley by saying you ran the Napa Valley!
