    Granger Music Hall

by lmkluque Updated Nov 11, 2013

    2.5 out of 5 starsHelpfulness

The Granger Music Hall was built in 1886 and is a National Historic Landmark. Granger Hall has moved quite a few times since it's original construction. It was built to be an "acoustically perfect" music auditorium. It has since become a venue for private events and is rented out as Banquet Rooms.

Now it's located on Fourth Street. The architecture is really interesting, inside and out. The courtyard is nicely set up but I would like to see it used more. As it is now, it looks as if it's been abandoned. Hopefully in the near future it will be put to better use. Maybe even moved to Heritage Square one of these days.

    What Happened to 24th Street?

by lmkluque Updated Jul 17, 2013

While exploring National City for interesting things to tell a tourist, I realized that 24th Street was missing. So, I wanted to find out where it went.

As long as I've lived in or near National City, it's been 24th Street. There is a 24th Street exit off Interstate-5 and there is a 24th Street Trolley station.

Now, the I-5 exit sign reads, Mile of Cars Way-> (East) and Bay Marina Drive- (West) I'm not sure how far east this street is labeled Mile of Cars Way, but from the freeway to National City Boulevard it will lead you to the Mile of Cars.

It's all part of the effort to breath fresh life in to a city that has been under the radar for a long time. I'm happy to see the changes being made.

This is an up and coming city that may one day be a tourist destination on it's own. At least a day trip from San Diego.
