Newport Beach Jazz Festival at Hyatt Regency

    (Seasonal event; occurs in May)

Jazz- "smooth", that is, is the feature at the Newport Beach festival. This is a popular event especially for the grown-ups tired of the standard hip hop and rock variety. The three day musical adventure occurs at Hyatt Regency hotel (fab hotel!). Mostly, a 40+ crowd come here but all who have true music appreciation do take part of the delightful ambience. There are plenty of food vendors and picnic space perfect for enjoying a bite or feast while having ear candy.

Big names headline the festival, including Al Jarreau, Babyface, David Koz, Jonathan Bulter, Najee and Brian Colbertson.Every year there is usually a sell out or two on given days. Hotel room packages available, however they are costly (about $600 for three days) but go really fast!

    Ticket prices (subject to change):
    $70- general admission, per day
    $135- VIP, per day

    Hyatt Regency Hotel Daily Rate:
    from $150-200 typically

Newport Jazz Festival & Summer Concert Series

by GracesTrips Written May 20, 2009

This is one of the best events for the price you can attend! For the entire day, you will listen to 8 - 9 musicians/groups perform in a beautiful setting at the Hyatt Regency for $55. The Friday evening concert is just one performer with assigned seating but it's usually worthwhile because there is not one bad seat in the small amphitheatre. Also, during the summer, the hotel offers a summer jazz series of concerts. You can combine your concert ticket with the price of the buffet dinner at the hotel's restaurant.

One draw back is that parking is steep. $25 during the all day festival and it is not located on the hotel premises. If you attend the evening concert, I believe it's much less expensive and you can park at the hotel.
