The pony's friend...
Living in the paddock with the pony is this little donkey. Or is it a mule? I never can remember. Let's call it a burro and split the difference? Regardless, it's very laid back, with a sweet disposition.
Novato IS off the beaten path...
Novato IS off the beaten path for most tourists. This is the most populous town in Marin County, however. It's mainly known as a 'bedroom community', with people living in Novato, and then commuting down the Highway 101 corridor to San Francisco each day for work.
Olompali is not overly crowded...
Olompali is not overly crowded for being so close to populations. I hiked a Saturday and Sunday with only 5 other people. Benches are located for rest and spectacular views of the river basin and bay. Figure about 1 ½-2 hours to complete the Loop. Wear hiking boots and hat. Shade covers 80% of the hike.
Looking for a companion?
The Marin Humane Society is located in Novato. Here you can find all kinds of domestic animals who are looking for loving homes.
