    1.5 out of 5 starsHelpfulness

This all-American diner is packed out on the weekends - it is open for breakfast and lunch. It is worth the wait. Apart from the cheery atmosphere, the food and service is excellent. The only thing I regret is not tasting any of the pies which are meant to be yummy.

Favorite Dish: Everything I had was delicious - scrambled eggs with capsicum (or red peppers as Americans would say), biscuits, pancakes and I had grits for the first time - very interesting....The Reggie Jackson special with deep-fried pork chops is also a popular choice.

Lois the Pie Queen: Soul Food in East Bay

This is a local institution. Still small and homy, has local flavor.

Favorite Dish: Any of the breakfasts. I visit Lois the Pie Queen for breakfast at least once each visit to the Bay Area.
