These were built in 1928 for vacationing residents from Los Angeles to escape the city. They exchanged hands many times, until 1941 they were named the Roberts Cottages, but sadley kept exchanged hands till 1990 they were sold as permament residences. They are an important part to Oceanside historical past. What is very unique is the fact they are still being enjoyed!

Located next to the Oceanside's Library is City Hall. What makes it unique is the wonderful sculpture it has that separates each of the wings of the building. It you walk a little further in past the Library's entrance and past the beautiful fountain you will discover a nice little find.

This is a beautiful centerpiece to the downtown area is the Public Library, Fountain, and City Hall. This spot was once where Andrew Jackson Myers who was the founder of Oceanside. He was a native of La Salle County Illinois, where he was born in 1840, but lived in San Joaquin County California around 1852. Served in the military during the Civil War, and returned to California and started San Luis Rey Township in 1881. In 1882 he moved on the land embracing the original town site of Oceanside. He founded the Oceanside Water Company which was very critical to establishing early Oceanside. He served his community and the community of San Diego County for which he will always be remembered for.
